The Eddison tommies did it in 1994 against Hibbing blue jackets in the first round of state in the third period. It was pretty funny the goalie came out of the net and shot it at his own player and it bounced in there own goal.

own goals

believe it or not -

When I was playing youth hockey, we had a defenseman on my team score a hatrick on his own goalie in one game.

After the game we had a locker room "party" after the coach left and the goalie went postal on him.

Funny someone should post this topic, I was just thinking about this. I wasn't there so I don't know for sure, but I could swear I heard about this happening in maybe the 2000 or 2001 section game between...I want to say Eastview Lightning and maybe the...Holy Angels? Were they both in the same section? I forget which two teams were involved. Something happened where it was late in the game, and I think an Eastview player thought he heard a whistle, and out of frustration shot the puck on his own net. The goalie not expecting it or not paying attention or whatever, let the puck in. However there was no whistle and it counted for a goal, and as a result, the team ended up losing by 1. Or maybe 2 because that gave up any momentum the team had and they got scored on again. Does anyone remember this or have more detail about it?

In my sons Highschool game last year a delayed penalty was called and the goalie started for the bench. A forward passed the puck back to the defenseman who missed the pass and the puck went all the way the length of the ice into the empty net.

Friday night in a junior gold A game - Moundsview vs Burnsville.

I would say I see it about 6 times a year.

This same thing almost happened to our Minnesota Wild last year about November 29 at the Xcel vs the Sharks but the pass hit the post on the empty net! Whew too close for comfort :)

Unlike most refs I know that can't seem to see anything or think they see things nobody else does, I have seen that happen. 8)

How bout the stanley cup last year. Ottawa's Chris Phillips banked the puck off Emery for the game winning goal in the fifth and final game.

Great add there Steve! Check this one out guys. The guy slams one home on his own goalie and then reacts like he just scored the game winner. It takes him a second to realize what he had done. CLASSIC.

He really buried that one didn't he....

I saw a Brainerd player in PeeWee's try to clear the puck off the glass and around the boards and snipe the upper corner on his goalie... may be one of the best shots i have ever seen.

Im surprised no one has mentioned the Grand Rapids vs. Falls game a couple years ago, One of the Fischers touched the puck, then got a penalty. and while the refs arm was up, the GR goaltender left the net, and the forward drop passed it to his d-man, and the d-man missed the puck, and straight into the net it went.
Falls still lost the game (4-3 i think?)

but it was a memorable game for me to watch, seeing fischer get a goal and a penalty at the same time!!!
RBK ruins hockey. PERIOD
