You have got to be kidding me. Ever wonder what the hell the point of the lockout of 1994 was? You'd never know anything was done to get salaries in line today.

Yah, I agree that what they are talking about is outrageous but thats the market.

I get tired of talking about how crazy things are. I tought it was crazy when Reggie Jackson signed for one milion a year.

I get tired of the Twins saying "we cant pay that" but everybody else can.

Silva is no Nolan Ryan but he is a guy who will help your team.

If the Twins cant get or keep players, sell the club to someone who can.

It was suggested here that they should have traded him when it became obvious that they were not going to go on a tear.

Now he is gone and they have nothing in return.

Well Silva ends up with 12 Mil a year, and our new GM is happy for him.

Can't wait. I drove down 394 the other day and noticed they've actually got some of the exterior poured at the new park already... Looks like it must be part of the right field plaza area.

I was about as excited to see that as I was to see Nick Swisher is now in the division.

Thats too bad. Bert should get in.

His ERA and Ks should get him in. Number of wins is important but its an individual award and the team you play with can have a lot to do with number of wins.

He had a HOF carreer IMO.

1093 days will pass and Bruce Sutter and Goose Gossage will be the only two admitted into the hall. I tell ya, The Hall really knows how to create a buzz about themselves. If a 1970's reliever can't captivate the attention of America, nobody can.

With guys like Bert and Rice consistantly being denied entrance, pretty soon it will be them and the steriod era boys on the ballot. I don't see anybody being inducted over the next 25 years.

IS,(or anybody) do you know why its so important to these guys?

Is there a financial award that goes with it?

It seems like some of these guys take it more serious than others about whether they get in.

Or is it just the prestige?

If I were Bert and I got in 10 years after I should have, Id skip the ceremony and tell them to go pound sand. But nobody has ever done that. I wonder why.

That's a good question, nobody has self promoted themself for The Hall more than Ron Santo. His faction went so far as to make a documentary called 'This Old Cub' to help plead his case. Santo's case is quite nausiating as he continues to try get into the very beast that has said no time and time and time and time again.

I doubt Bert has done what Santo has done but it's apparent some of these guys don't like not getting picked when they've lived a life of being the star of the team.

Technically, I believe the site - BertBelongs.com - isn't his, it's a fan site.... although he has no qualms about supporting it.

Evidently, part of the details are that they've signed Morneau for 6 years $80 million, and Michael Cuddyer for 3 years $23 million.

Wonder what Johan thinks of this? Maybe the team isn't in complete rebuilding mode, and can contend for a while.

We shall see...

This is great news for the Twins, locking up Morneau for eight years and Cuddyer for three is a solid start at keeping their lineup intact. Mauer, Morneau, Cuddyer, and Young is a pretty solid core to any lineup. If the Twins can bring in some good prospects with high ceilings in a deal for Johan they could be looking at being World Series contenders for years to come.
