Re: HERE IS YOUR RECAP

The funniest thing in the game was the supposed shot total that the old man in the box came up with. I was sitting at center ice counting the shots and here is what I had by period.
EV - 10-13-13 - 36 Shots --- the board had 42 for EV
Rose - 5-13-9 - 27 Shots --- the board had 21 for Rose
EV should take note that Rosemounts goalie is not all he is cracked up to be --- most of the shots were taken on dump in and the others came out of nowhere. . .
1) what fan actually sits at a game counting shots?
2) You couldn't of been at center ice, the band filled that section
You should never try to take away something great that a kid does. DOES BEING OFF SIX SHOTS REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE? You must of been watching a completely different game to say that it was an even match. Eastview totally dominate the game, and Rosemount took advantage of the few opportunities they got, and came away with the win. Good teams find a way to win when things aren't going their way, and last night, that's what the Irish did.
Well apparently RBK21 agrees in the fact that he stated this ---- I have to agree with Hockeyguy1515, the shots were off by a lot.
And thanks for commenting on my seating arrangement my ears are still ringing from the Band --- haha
As an ex-goalie as I mentioned I like to count shots and chart where they are coming from . . . that tells the story of the game better than any shot total you can come up with.
I'm not saying that the kid is a bad goalie all I said is that eastview or anyother team for that matter should take note of where the shots were coming from and not be worried about a 40 save game the next time around. I think Morgan has a great shot to play Juniors somewhere however he is not nearly a top 10 or 20 goalie in the fact that he won't be getting offers unless Rosemount goes to the Tourney.
Just as an ex-player; STATS ARE USELESS unless they are taken accurately. Most kids nowadays are tallying up phantom points and others are losing points because of the efforts of a select few. I think it should be taken note that there is no real good way to read the box score which is why SCOUTS attend the games to see the plays being made.
If you have anymore questions about where I'll be sitting next time around give me a call and I will save you a seat!

perfectly sums up brown. Good player, but is not well rounded enough for D1 yet. Juniors would be a crucial step for brown.STEV16 wrote:I'm not saying hes is a bad player, I'm just saying that he isnt as good as people are saying. He was a non factor last game, and he hurt his team with his penalty. He didnt have a positive impact until he scored the empty netter. The irsh have a strong first line, and a amazing goalie. Morgan in my mind, is their best player day in day out for them. Brown has skill, but he lacks the overall completeness that a D1 player has. Maybe a year or two of juniors can change it.If he is really as terrible as you guys like to make him sound then why do the Irish continue to win?
Let me start out by saying this was a hell of a hockey game. When I got there I was lucky that I got a ticket because it was standing room only and they were only going to sell about 50 more tickets.
Eastview totally dominated this game. Eastview had at the very least seven, two ones. Eastview if youre going to even think of going to state you better start capitalizing on your chances. This game should have been about 10-3 Eastview but they just didn't put the puck in the net.
They needed to switch up what they did on their two on ones. Every time the puck carrier would shoot the puck and all Morgan had to do was go down and close the five hole. The one time they did score on the two on one was five hole and Morgan did a nice job of adjusting to that.
The least Eastview could have done was try and deke on the two on one. The guy without the puck is who the defenseman takes and Rosemount did that but every time Eastview would shoot. Change up your approach. Make the goalie commit to going down and then go right around. All of Morgan's saves on the odd man rushes were at the top of the crease and if they could have made him commit early all they had to do was go right around and Morgan would have no chance.
Morgan played pretty well. Eastview just never tried switching things up. They are a very fast team and that totally showed last night. They looked far and away the better team but that doesn't matter if you can't put the puck in the net. Also the goaltending for Eastview wasn't so hot. That happens a lot when your team is dominating the game and all of a sudden just one shot can be put in and your team is down. I had a feeling that Rosemount would pull it out just for that reason.
Overall awesome hockey game. It was my first time seeing Eastview play and they are incredibly fast but they just have to finish. That is the name of the game. Good game by both teams a very good battle between two teams that don't praticularily like each other.
I still think when Woodbury is on they can beat either team. I'm going to say that these two teams WON'T play each other again becuase Woodbury will knock one of them off. Section 2 is not going to be easy to win that's for sure.

Maybe you just have some anamosity towards Rosemount and it's players, since you are probably an Eastview parent. My guess would be a parent of one of the goalies there. I suppose everyone has their opinion.
Eastview did dominate this game and that is a fact. They had many odd-man rushes like a previous poster stated, as well as a couple breakaways, and were unable to capitalize. Also they had many opportunities at the end to bury the puck, but couldn't.
Maybe you didn't see the same game as most people that were in the building, but I don't blame you. The lighting in that rink does funny things to your vision.
Don't worry about saving me that seat, I have one saved for me in the student section.

I am gonig to add that I feel after watching this game compared to the rest of the season, Rosemount did not have one of their better games. They just kept giving it away the whole first period.
For those of you who say Morgan made most of his saves on dump ins.... You must not have seen the 3 or 4 traffic-jams in front where the puck nearly rolled in the net, but Morgan pulled them out in time. I believe about twice (out of those scrums in front) the puck hit some iron.
I dont think Woodbury will have a super awesome chance against EV or Rose. They will have "A" chance, but not a good one.....Pending they do meet come section time.

Haha now your cracking me up ---- I am an ex player in the conference from about 10 years ago right before EV was built but i'm no parent just an avid lake conference follower---- I just am making the point that your friend is not as unstopable as you may think . . .just look at what everyone else is saying --- especially the guy who is big on woodbury. He made the same points I was making --- the shot selection was terrible. Which is what made morgan look better! I'll save the seat for ya in the Section game just in case you need to take some notes!

Well, I have my opinion and you have yours. Other people saw the game how I did, and others saw it the way you did.
So maybe there were a few extra shots added or taken away. You have to remember that these aren't professional stat keepers in the box, and they don't have the equipment to go back and review each shot attempt to see if it were on goal. Not everyone is perfect, and watching the game through bodies at center ice, makes it that much harder to see things. People are bound to be mistakes made.

I never said Morgan was unstoppable. I never really said anything about him, just that you can't take a good performance away from a kid.
Take away all shots from "nowhere" and dump-ins for both sides, and I bet Eastview still outshot the Irish.
Edit- Sorry but I'm not too fond of taking notes. It's a waste of paper and time.

Thanks STEV16 I'm pretty upset I missed this one.STEV16 wrote:Hockeyjunkie this ones for you:
Here is my completly honest feedback:
Rose started out quick, hitting the post on the first shot. They were rolling pretty good for the first 45 seconds..until they started getting hit and then they got frustrated. Brown, not impressed one bit with his play tonight. EV completely dominated the play throughout the whole game. Out shot them 43-20. EV had 15 scoring chances, and it only hurt themselves that they couldnt score. EV's first line was much better than ROse's this game. The line of Maloney, Perry, Larson payed amazing. Jared Larson was the best player out their tonight. The ref's missed some calls both ways, and it was a very physical game during andafter the whistle. Rose had some cheap shots, ex brown throwing a punch behind the play, percy hitting guys from behind... This was a very good game, and completely sold out. It doesnt matter that EV dominated, because in the end Rose won. If these two teams meet again, which could very well happen, My money is one EV.
Not impressed with: Fienhage, Peters from EV
McManus and Brown from Rose.
MVP of the game: Morgan goalie from Rose, Larson from EV
Goalies
Hockeyguy1515 your right not top 10 or 20. Probably more like top 5. You will argue this but it won't make it any less true. Remember Morgan was a final 51 tender and was called upon to represent MN at the National Selects 17 in 06 it was a tough field with names like Patterson and Ellingson in the mix.
You know his name I wonder if he knows yours.

Agreed. Rosemount and Eastview end up seeded 1 and 2 respectively, and it sets up a great section final. Woodbury will not get past either one of these teams the way Rosemount and Eastview are playing.STEV16 wrote:Woodbury cant compete with these two teams, and section 3 not 2I still think when Woodbury is on they can beat either team. Hopefully both Rosemount and Eastview bring their best to the sections, because the Fairgrounds will be rocking for this section final game if it ends up that way. I'm already looking forward to it.

What Can Brown do for You?

yeah, Mike really goes unnoticed and needs to be credited a lot more.irishfan08 wrote:LWAH wrote:Hockeyguy1515 your right not top 10 or 20. Probably more like top 5.
