Hermantown vs bemidji 1/29/2008 In hermantown
Predictions
Hopefully the roads are cleaned up by then...they're pretty slick in this neck of the woods right now...just heard they're advising no travel at all on da range. Maybe the Lumberjacks could just skate down

To my knowledge, Duluth is the only district that has a hard-line "no school=no games" policy.
I'd guess that other games may be called off at the discretion of the districts.
But until you hear officially to the contrary, you should assume that games like Hibbing-Greenway, Proctor-VMIB, and others are on.
I haven't heard anything "official" on Denfeld-Cloquet, but the assumption is that it's off because a Duluth school is involved.

That is about the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Why would it be okay for kids to go to a game but not to school. I would think that it would be okay for them to go to school, then if conditions get to bad, cancel the game.
No, we closed school because of weather conditions, but we still want you to drive to the hockey game.......

I mean, if a kid calls in sick to school, he isn't going to be allowed to play in a game that night, right?

Where did you get this from? I was just on Hermantowns school website and didn't see this anywhere.AHABulldog wrote:From Hermantown's AD:

Exactly, but I guess we will just throw common sense out the window for youth sports.BruceCiskie wrote:I've never understood it much, either.theref wrote:That is about the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Probably by calling the school.theref wrote:Where did you get this from? I was just on Hermantowns school website and didn't see this anywhere.

The school website is usually not high on the list of priorities for updating. They need to make sure parents and kids all know what's going on, and they usually will notify the media of changes, too.
The "communicating with the coaches and kids" thing becomes a lot more difficult on days where school is closed.
