No, that's fine. I was just misreading how you were speaking.

Don't think any player works harder than Kelly Wild (except for Brittany Carlson). And since she has been allowed to rush the puck and join the offense, she has scored three goals in the last two games.

Brittany Carlson, boy was she fun to watch in the Abra Auto Tournament in Edina.

I'd take out Welch or Weber.[/quote]

How can you say this! Come on they are all deserving! The Knack on E. Erickson is that she doesn't play both ways. And GOCARDS if you want to pick one off your team it is Abby Williams.

Sarah Erickson, Bemidji, forward, Minnesota
Kelly Seeler, Eden Prairie, defense, Minnesota
Lauren Smith, Holy Angels, forward, Ohio State
Monique Weber, Elk River, forward, Connecticut
Danielle Welch, Hastings, forward, Boston College
Lauren Smith had a huge night in Holy Angels' 10-1 win over Red Wing, scoring 5 goals and 3 assists.

Actually, Emily Erickson has been very effective in both ends of the rink this season. Expecially since Christmas.

You hit the nail on the head! This season. Expecially since Christmas. This award is for your Highschool career not this season!

Agreed, but she has had a great career.

345 career points...not too bad.

Here is my top 5 out of that list (no partiucular order):

Emily Erickson, Grand Rapids/Greenway, forward, Bemidji State
Sarah Erickson, Bemidji, forward, Minnesota
Ashley Holmes, Alexandria, defense, North Dakota
Kelly Seeler, Eden Prairie, defense, Minnesota
Lauren Smith, Holy Angels, forward, Ohio State

What a pleasure to have seen all of them play on multiple occassions.

Watching Weber over the years has led me to these thoughts...

She is very talented, especially strong, but has a bit of a temper that takes her out of her game at times. There have been games where her temper has put her in the box for long streches in crucial times. But, when she goes for it, she is very strong and exciting to watch. She should be a solid D1 player.

Sure have to believe that Smith or Erickson will be our Ms Hockey 2008...

Fun to think of all the good young ladies of hockey our state produces each year. Something to be a bit proud of I would have to say... :D

I wouldn't count Seeler out! Has ben to the state tournament twice. One state championship,on the team since 8th grade, on a team that is 136-4-1, and I could go on. As you could with all the canidates. They are all very deserving of the award!!!

Don’t get me wrong Smith can be very dominating but she is so overplayed. She is always on the ice. I know it is because she is good! But they have girls that need to see more ice time. When they know they are going to beat up on teams like Redwing, why don’t they skate all of the girls to get more shifts to get more girls in the game.
Insted of just ringing up more points.

I agree. Alexandria skates 3 lines every game. They could overplay 1st line and I guarantee all three of them would be top 10 point getters, with Williams leading the state. I think 8 points is kind of ridiculous

boblee, I agree those are probably my bottom two of the top 5, it's a valid argument. The other part that may hurt one of the above two is an off-ice reputation that seems to follow her. I can't speak on it, as I have never witnessed it. It will be interesting to how it turns out. I'm not sure how much of the off-ice stuff the people who vote on this know, other than what's on the nomination form.

Gocards, I agree that Williams is a great two way player, and IMO she is the best player on the Alex team. I don't think posting negatively towards other players helps your cause though.

A1A, I assume you commenting that Smith was overplayed means you were at the game and saw how much ice time she had. I would say it's hard to get an accurate picture from a box score.

gopher9, I agree, but I think the amount of talent that has been around her through-out her career may hurt her a little. I don't think the other two have had the same compliment of players surrounding them, especially this year.

Agreed, that is why Alex will win it all this year. Alex is a clear favorite. Surprised Williams was not on the list.

I did watch the first Redwing and Holy Angels game. Smith had 5 goals and an assist. She played a lot. At the end of the game, she held the puck behind Redwings net for 1 minute and 45 seconds just to prove she could. It was entertaining.

Yes, I have seen her alot she is good! but way overplayed, But she would not think so. Just an observation.
Lauren and Kelsey are their team (JIMO) here is how I see the stats based on game scoring against teams that are over 500( I only took the stats aginst teams that are over 500 so that numbers are a bit more fair)
As you can see Smith and Erickson Dominate.

Name G A Points
Emily Erickson 23 19 42
Sarah Erickson 16 10 26
Melissa Feste 15 9 24
Ashley Holmes 3 1 4
Anne Schepler 9 7 16
Kelly Seeler 7 15 22
Lauren Smith 29 20 49
Monique Weber 15 11 26
Danielle Welch 13 9 22
Kelly Wild 3 3 6

GOCARDS, Grievance is OK, but explain your rational. Williams is a very nice player, but tell us what puts her above the top ten here? Try to take out your bias for Alexandria and for Williams, and look at this top ten.

These are interesting stats. Can you convert them to a per game average. I'm sure that there were differences in the number of games played against over 500 teams. I was thinking it might distort the stats.

Also it would be interesting if it could be averaged by the number of minutes played. Stats don't tell the whole story but they give some valuable information. I have seen Lauren Smith play many times and she gets more ice time per game than any other player that I've seen. She's a great player but I think her stats are a little inflated.

I personally like Emily Erickson. Its only hearsay but I heard Ms. Erickson is an outstanding student with outstanding character. No solid evidence but from observation and talking to others I have issues with the character of a couple of the others on the list.

I have no cat :D in this fight and I have not seen all of the 10 listed play. I have seen Smith, S. Erickson, Weber & Schleper play and of those four, Smith and Erickson stand out as impact players.

All 10 are great or they wouldn't be on the list but in the end the winner should be special!

was that sarcasm falcons? haha i wasnt sure. but I didnt mean to seem arrogant, but I was just saying that alex could rack up the points against some of these teams, like Mankato West does for example.

and hockeyrube.. I think all of them are very good and deserving. I just think in my opinion, Williams has better credentials that Weber. But i guess the vote has been done, so lets move on.
