The way the season has been going seems to point that Mound will be near the top this year. However, it's hard to bet against Blake this year too. Orono looks to be falling well below expectations, and Providence Academy is playing really well. Breck, being Breck, is always a contender...

With how inconsistant Mound has been lately, I have a tough time taking them over Breck.

The loss of Riley H. on Mound is contributing to that inconstancy I'm sure.

1. Orono
2. Breck
3. Mound
4. Blake

Orono had a rough first half to thier season but could have turned it around with a 7-0 win over Owatonna and a 5-2 win over Delano with an EN. We'll see how Orono Plays vs St Cloud Cathedral this friday. Brecks a solid team, beat Orono 6-2 but was outshot 36-22. Mound is very good this year but with the loss of Horgan, it will be tough to follow through on the season. Blake has been very unconsistant all season and hasnt beat anyone very good.

Inconsistency can be attributed to the quality of losses they've had, particularly to Hermantown and Duluth Marshall.

Regardless, their coach (Willett) is more than capable of rallying the group. They have plenty of talent behind Riley, and even without him, they should not be ignored.

Blake beat Orono. Aren't they good?
Has Orono EVER beaten Breck?

Orono has potential to win some over a team like Breck or even someone better. Like someone already said Orono did outshoot Breck but couldn't bury. These next few for Orono could tell the story. If they can win without their tender Ian Wilson (out w/ concussion) over SCC than I believe they can beat any team in this section.

Power92, not sure if you were at the Orono Blake game or not but Orono was up 3-1 until the end of the second. then let in a few weak goals and an empty netter. Orono ended up with more shots and will come out on top if they play agian. As for Orono v Breck we'll see what happens in sections.

What are you saying? Delano was up 3-1 with 1:20 left in the game and blew it. So does that make Delano good?

Yes gino, I was at the game. And you are right Orono was up 3-1 after 2. But you know what, its a 3 period game. Your super Spartans gave up 5 in the 3rd. Blake gave up 2 softies early and carried the play most of the 2nd and 3rd. Orono needs to stay out of the box (9 penalties). Good luck at sections.

How'd the Allstars from Blake do against the southern Minnesota boys. Let see Owatonna 7, Blake 4 Lourdes 9 Blake 5. Looks like they play some good D

Blake beat Orono, Orono beat Owattana(sp?), Owattana beat Blake so...... what Orono should beat Blake. They didn't.
Guess I'm missing your point Davey, unless it is both teams are having consistency issues right now.

I saw Blake against Cretin. They have 2 good D and the rest of them are weak but the goal-tending was very very bad.

Keep your head up this year. Size matters. To call Dressen "decent" shows how ignorant you are (All State in lacrosse, All State in soccer, All-Conference in Hockey), Doerring led the conference defenseman in scoring as a sophmore , Johnson is a goalie, and I would take Sievold over anyone on your team....Anyone.
CareBear,

First. Ligthen up Francis! Were just havin a little fun here.

Second, If they were so good....
1-They would have beat Orono at state instead of getting shut out.
2-They would have swept those "little" Breck guys.
3-They would have found a way to get by that powerhouse St Agnes.
4-They would have won the anemic Tri Metro conference instead folding like a house of cards to Breck in the season finale'!!!!!

And lastly, why are there so many kids named Blake at Blake? Do the get a scholarship! :D

Good luck this year to the Bears. I hope they can do well as it looks pretty bleak next year after they lose Barnes, Sievold and Dressen to Grad and Birk to the USHL.
You are right. We did lose to Orono in the STATE HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENT. Did you have a chance to catch it on TV? Or were you watching film on the Mahtomedi games? I don' think I am the one on here talking smack about how good we were last year or rippin on individual players at Breck. I am not even pushing the issue as to why your coach left. I hear the team chemistry over there with the "ultimate sophmore class" is quite remarkable. They should erect a monument right now, maybe they could call it the "Born to Play" or "Born Identity Crisis" or maybe "We came, We saw, We lost to Spring Lake Park", or maybe "If we only had some D" Relax: Just havin some fun

I have said all along to be easy on the smack because it can go both ways
Lets just wait and see how "bleak" it is. See you January 29th. In the mean time, lift some weights and hammer some protein shakes, your gonna need them this year. Is there anyone on your team over 160lbs?[/quote]

You are a jerk whoever's dad you are, your son is probably embarassed. Adults picking on kids is always something to be proud of in your opinion I guess. But then what else is to be expected from Blake. This is just a bunch of kids playing hockey and as usual the adults using it to make some pointless comments to make themselves feel better. Maybe you should just shut up and leave this to the kids were the ones doing all the work.

This section is totally up for grabs. No clear cut favorite. The big four are all inconsistent and could win (or lose) at anytime to almost anyone. Blake played a great game against Breck and seem to have the most momentum. It should make for an interesting week at Parade.

I saw your post on the other thread about seedings. The way it looks right now, Wouldn't Breck be a 4 or 5 seed? Or how are you looking at it?

Flat,

I guess I pretty much agree as it stands right now. I would probably move Holy Family behind Mound and Breck. Their record is better but they haven't beaten any quality, winning teams.

Blake
Mound
Breck
Holy Family
Providence
Delano
Orono
Richfield
STMA

No question, ORONO. They should have their starting goalie back by sections and have 3 very good and one exceptional player (Persian) that can swing a game against anyone. This section could be won by at least five teams (Blake, Breck, Mound, Providence, Orono). Should be fun.

I would tend to favor Breck right now - seem to have the most consistent goaltending. Offense and defense are good, but not very consistent lately. Rehkamp and Fulton lead this team. For this team to win, they need to get more consistent effort and special teams play. If you want to stop this team, get Rehkamp to explode for another 10 minute misconduct.

Blake is also good, but this team seems to have players more concerned about personal statistics than team results. Birkholz, Burnette and Barnes are the key players - but fall into the 'personal stats' bucket. For this team to win, they need to get production from more players and think more about team. If you want to stop this team, shadow Birkholz - he'll be at the redline.

Providence could suprise a few coming down the stretch if they're goaltending stands up. Derosier and Larson lead the way. For this team to win, they need to generate more offense. If you want to stop this team, just shoot.

Holy Family is currently the leader in Wright County. No real offense or defensive threats, but they seem to play consistently well. Leivermann and Schwartz lead this group along with Earls. For this team to win, they need to get much better 5 on 5. If you want to stop this team, stay out of the penalty box.

Mound has strong goaltending, but is only 1 line deep and is limited by their lack of physical size. Johnson and Mayer are the players here. If this team plans to win, it needs to take far more risks with scoring and get Horgan back. If you want to play this team, attack their size.

Orono has been the biggest disappointment in Class A. Defensive play will be the key to this team making a run. Persian, Barnum and Skoog lead the way for this team. If this team wants to win, it needs to get production from all 3 lines, improve special teams play and get the defense to play with discipline. If you want to beat this team, stop Persian.

As for players, Birkholz and Persian are the best players in this section.

Good luck to everyone

Obi Wan,

You know these teams well. I agree with everything you say. So who wins?

Seedings

1. Breck
2. Blake
3. Holy Family
4. Mound
5. Delano
5. Orono

Pretty sure power92 was at the Blake/Orono game. I actually think he might have been on one of the benches.

Would everyone agree that this section is literally wide open. At the beginning of the season this might have looked like the deepest section, instead it looks like the weakest.
