I gotta say that Lauren Smith is a solid contender. She has the skills, size and strength. She has been on the varsity for six years and has a slap-shot that some HS boys would like.

Melissa Feste has gotten some ink lately. Last night she was featured on KARE 11 in a segment about her passing and play-making abilities. And in this morning's StarTribune she was one of their Athletes of the Week:

MELISSA FESTE
Eden Prairie, hockey

The senior forward celebrated her recent selection as a finalist for the Minnesota Ms. Hockey award by sharing with her teammates -- the puck, that is. Feste scored one goal and had 10 assists in victories over Rosemount (12-0) and Lakeville North (7-0).

Kelly Wild really meets the criteria for this award very well. She is a top student, great player (top athlete in multiple sports), very inovled in her community in many ways and great leader (alt captain on team US U18 team both last August and again this January).
