How much does it cost?

Post by youthpres »

Just wondering what everyone pays to play...

In Austin we pay...

MM 60.00
M 100.00
SQ 300.00
PW 400.00
B 500.00

We do one of those calendars....we pay 240.00 for 12 and then earn our money back when we sell them. We sell a few pizzas and work our concession stands.

These prices include everything...ice time, a few tournaments at each level, etc.

How about you?

I would say those prices look extremely reasonable. Not having a kid in association hockey any longer I could be wrong but for some reason it felt like I had more money this year

How Much Does it Cost

Post by nahc »

We pay over $1000 per skater for Pee Wee skaters. This includes ice time, district fees, head coach hotel room at tourneys, warmups, officials fees, and a few other items.........we are not a AAA or private school team......plus we have a mandatory fund raiser during the year that everyone is forced to buy >$75 worth of tickets and then they must sell or eat the tickets......

but by saying no comment, you really are making a comment. So if you didn't really want to comment the appropriate action would have been not to post anything which everyone would have appreciated in a far greater manner.

Letting me off cheap at Kinkaids eh? day and time then.

waylon - thanks for your concern (the post got locked), but I paid for 3 kids over the course of 13 years in association hockey. Another two cents to the youth hockey section is really my shared experience of those 13 years. I think I am entitled to and can comment based on my experiences. Besides it adds to my post total

tomASS,

they locked your thread. You will be just one of us again. I have been working on the jean line that you were going to endorse.

I thought we could hire Brooke Shields, and she could utter the words "Nothing gets between me and my tomASS (blue jeans)". Pretty catchy...a!

tomASS, Who holds the record for the most locked threads? Is this a record that Minnesota hockey will put in the books? [-o<

975$ to register three-including two tryout fees for the travel kids.

With family fees it is $300 to register a mite, approximately 55 hours of ice.

after that it's just traditional ice bills for the travel kids, pizza parties, new sticks, tape(my kids have gotten a roll of tape as a player gift from the last three tournaments???), hotel bills for 5 out of town tournaments, gate fees, mouthguards, a new lightbulb in the garage (or three),skate sharpenings, laces (not to mention team jackets, pants and hats because really, it's Minnesota we'd have to buy them jackets and hats anyway).......the total: priceless.

As long as they love it, and we love it, than it is a priceless way to spend our time. And my kids may never be on a top ten rated team, but it's not about the winning, it's about the doing, but most of you know that.

That being said, what's the best fundraiser? we do raffle tickets. Is there something out there more labor intensive but with less costs that brings in money? besides gambling. we have it, not enough.

Hi DMom- What a deal. $300 dollars for Mites? / 55 hours of ice time? $5.45 per ice time is hard to beat. How much do the Squirts, Pee wee's and bantams pay? To charge less for Mites. Do you pay more for the upper levels? Believe me. $300 dollars for Mites is a bargain.

Boogy, im a little slow and old, but i dont get where you make a negative comment to dmom in 1 post and then ask her a question in another. nothin personal toward you, but it's probably not the best way to approach things

I can run, but I can't hide from him I guess. The topic of the thread is the cost of association hockey. Some will use the information to go back and complain to their associations and some will use it to feel good about what they pay, and some will use it as a way to learn how to keep the cost down in the future. In the end, it is worth the inconvenience of listening to the BM.

IronRange- You're not slow. If you go way back. DMom decided to chime in on some other post. She was negative. I guess that's Ok for her? Not me? Instead of turning the other cheek. She played eye for an eye. No worries.
$300 dollars for a Mite league is a good thing. This is a chat room. Right?

DMom- Please don't turn this negative. [-X I feel good for what you pay. [-o< Consider yourself lucky. Your association has found a way to make Mite hockey cheaper than my association. Not sure why you think I'm ripping my association? :-$ I just think it's great that you pay a lot less than I did last year. [-o<

Dmom- welcome to my world. There is a big logic chip flaw in all his rational. Another example is shown here in his thinking that I am the cause of the lock threads. Funny how it doesn't happen in all the other threads I contribute to -he is the common negative element. Pretty defensive apology on his part, if that indeed is what it can be called.

Freddy - great work, you will definitely get a piece of the action (in the financial sense that is) I think we should also get an older women like Rachel Welch for the older market segment and we could tie into the AARP membership.

sorry boardmember - it was a great idea to let us have our own sandbox to throw and kick sand around, but's it's still east hockey's playground. I thought we were playing nice enough (for us) his rules, his call.

tomASS- What's so hard? I was telling her she is lucky to only pay $300 dollars for Mites. Look and dig as deep as you want. No harm done on my part.

As for the locked thread comment. Once again. What's so hard. Pretty simple question. Either answer it. Or don't answer it. Don't dig to deep. Pretty staight forward. Just havin' fun. Don't think every comment I make has something to do with my association. Chill pill time.

Can DMom come to dinner with us? (just funnin)

East Grand Forks costs are $100 - Mites, $150 - Squirts, $275 - PeeWees and Bantams plus the $40 to register for USA hockey insurance. There is also a cap of $525 for the people like Watchdog that have 3, 4, 5 kids in the program. We are able to keep prices down because our Blue line Club works their butts off to raise money to keep the costs down and encourage parents to let their kids try hockey when they are young.

Boogy i didn't say it's ok to take a shot at anyone. The difference is that you make a comment toward her and then you ask her questions. If dmom made a comment toward you, she is not trying to ask you questions, shes trying to avoid you. Thats all. please give tomass a date and time for your meeting so that this can be settled. who knows maybe you have more in common than what youthink

Thank you! - I already know I'm a ASSofa tom. Life's simple, but some insist on making it hard

Regarding costs (topic) comparing head to head costs only gives you a benchmark from where everyone works from. You also need to know the fixed and variable costs each association is working with and what the actual program provides in the way of value and benefit. Every Association is going to have different costs associated with the program that needs to be covered.
