1. St Thomas Academy
As much ridicule as this will get me, one game doesn't make a season. Marshall and Breck are the only A teams they've lost to. Wins over Blaine and Benilde and close recent losses to top Tonka and Hill.

2. Duluth Marshall
Big win over St Thomas, but recent loss to Warroad. They don't have the SOS with their loss to Warroad to show #1.

3. International Falls
Good season, but losing to not-on-the-radar Hibbing shows they can lose to anyone.

4. Warroad
Not their best year, but wins over Marshall and Cathedral put them here.

5. St Cloud Cathedral
Wins over Lourdes, Little Falls and Denfeld. Also 2 goal loss in Warroad

6. Mankato West
Great record, two one goal losses.

7. Duluth Denfeld
Wins over Warroad, Superior and Lourdes.

8. Albert Lea
Not the greatest record, one goal loss to Int Falls sandwiched by one goal wins over Denfeld and West.

9. Little Falls
Losses to Virginia and Sauk Rapids. But win over Brainerd.

10. South St Paul
Good season, recently tied Hill.

11. Lourdes
Right there. 6 losses, 5 against quality A teams.

Mankato West on the outside looking in two losses to quality teams and may not even make it to a weaker section final. Sorry Westy

Hibbing?

Seriously, guys? I am a fan of northern hockey and would really love to see another team from up here in the top ten, but its hard to justify. Don't get me wrong, Hibbing is a decent hockey team, but if you look at their season so far... there's just no way.

Hibbing (9-12-0):
1-6 on the road (Win was at Greenway)
3-7 against class A teams (Wins over I Falls, Greenway, and Bemidji)
3-12 against teams over .500 (Wins over I Falls, Grand Rapids, and Robbinsdale Armstrong)
2-5 in their last 7 (Wins over I Falls and Grand Rapids)

Losses to: Mound-Westonka, International Falls, Minnetonka, Warroad, Roseau, Duluth Marshall, Rochester Mayo, Virginia/MI-B, Duluth Denfeld, Cloquet/Esko/Carlton, Hermantown, and Grand Rapids.

Really only two impressive wins in the bunch, and they also lost to both of those teams this year (I Falls & Grand Rapids).

Top 20, maybe - because of who they lost to and the scores, but definitely not top 10 this year - and certainly not top 3.

I know I probably shouldn't be picking apart other peoples opinions, so to be fair, I'll post my top ten after I see Duluth Marshall play tonight.

flameofshame69,

actually, what you quoted was a top 11 list. Many top x lists just list two teams at the same number when they have a tie, I chose to break it. If it would make you feel better we can move South St Paul up to 9.5 and Lourdes up to 10.

You forgot to quote me when I said "one game doesn't make a season."

Yes, they have those wins, but they also have losses to Owatonna and Lourdes. Aside from the listed games, a weak schedule. On paper West is better than Albert Lea, despite the head to head loss, just as St Thomas is better than Marshall. The Wild's win over Detroit a month ago didn't make them the #1 team then; "one game doesn't make a season."
