I don't see Frazee playing again this year unless Kangas gets hurt.

I would like to agree. I do not forsee Jeff Frazee playing anymore hockey this year, unless Kangas gets hurt. And i hope he does not.

As for the series in Denver. I would love to say a Gopher sweep. But i must be realistic and say that it will be a split. But you never know. The Gophers are due for a great weekend, but then again, Denver will be playing a little p#$$@% off because they got swept last weekend. Either way, GO GOPHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kinda of a typical game so far.
Play hard, make the other goalie look good, give up one bad play and pay for it.
Kangas is solid again.
Give him some breathin room boys.

Kangas has picked up some steam after turning down tUMD's high powered offence

Kangas is doing as well as anyone could have projected at this point. He's a top 5 goalie in the WCHA already. It's not his fault the team in front of him can't buy a goal....BARRIBALL. I predicted that Kangas would be the starting goalie by the end of the year, I just didn't see the goalie switch coming so soon. Anyone who thought or thinks Frazee is anyone good...NEW JERSEY, should get there eyes checked.

Circle Pines own RJ Anderson with the goal.
Goal under review.
It might of hit International Falls' own Benjamin Gordon.

Agreed, Kangas does look good. He's exactly what a low scoring team like the Gophs need. A calm, rock solid, steady goaltender.
C'mon maroon, give Alex some OFFENSE.

I thought the squad played very well friday night. They totally outhustled, and outworked Denver in the 3rd period. The key to this team's lack of success is definitely the power play. With all due respect to our current players, we don't have Goligowski, Vanelli and Johnson QB'ing the PP. Fairchild is stepping in nicely, but we need more from Peltier, Fischer and RJ. Need to put more pucks on goal and make things happen after that. Let's get 2 points saturday, split with Wisconsinn Sweep Alaska and UMD and get on a roll! (Also, Flynn, step it up a bit.....)

Also..... Kangas is awesome!

At least the Gophs finally won themselves a third period. Maybe something will happen tonight with the return of Tony. I suspect another solid evening by Kangas and hopefully a little more offense.

Man, I miss the good old days
Besides Kangas playing well and providing hope, we have a great power pl..., the forwards are scor..., the defense is playing the poi...

I know the gophs lost many to the pros, but the current roster shows that Don's recruiting has missed the mark in recent years

Tough to watch at times. Can't remember saying that ever...

Yeah, they seem close at times.
Keep waiting for them to breakout.
I do believe they are a little snake bitten.
If they could just pump a couple in early, I think they have the skill to score a lot more than they have.
They have been tentative, but are showing signs of more confidence.
Tonight they get 4 past Mannino.
Go Gophs. :)

Tough season for the gophs. I do think Lucia is getting a little bit of a free pass in all of this. He has not done a good job getting the kids ready for tourney time the last 3 years. Good regular season (except for this year) and bad tourney appearance. How about his recruiting?

Much of the problem this year has been due to some tough circumstances that are pretty difficult to blame the coach for. Stoa getting hurt in the 2nd game, Okposo/O'Brien leaving very unexpectedly, Carman being out of the lineup for half a season, Goligoski going pro rather late in the summer, etc. I am not sure how you can fault a coach much for those things. You just have to play out the hand you were dealt for a season and make the best of it. Every coach has to deal with a season like this from time to time. Berenson, Blais, Brooks, etc... none of them were immune to it.

As for post-season performance, other than the Holy Cross upset, I don't see much to bitch about. They made the Frozen Four in 2005 and they came one OT goal from getting there last year. Losing to a quality UND team in OT last year is nothing to be ashamed of. They were a pretty good team in their own right.

Recruiting is going well. Next year's class was highly rated by Red Line Report (an independent scouting service). #1 overall class I believe. Of course, such rankings are subjective but obviously the scouts think pretty highly of the incoming class.
