R.I.P. Brainerd

Post by darkdemon »

This is truly disappointing for the warriorz they had such a good start to their season beating some quality teams like Rosemount. Now with losses to Little Falls, Roseau and St. Cloud Apollo it doesn't look like they will contend for the section 8AA title.  Maybe they'll surprise us and beat Roseau in sections

It is disappointing that Brainerd with pretty good talent can never seem to put it altogether  This last loss to Apollo a very average team at best ](*,) I think should seal the deal that da warriorz won't contending for the 8AA crown this season #-o When you lose to a team like Apollo how do you expect to beat a team like Roseau  Come on cake eaters, with one of the largest school districts outside the metro and you can never seem to get to the big show :-k Wake up and finally make some changes to your program, but you won't because your da warriorz and you think you always know what's best [-(

Like they say...a hot goalie can take you a long way. I watched a sliver of the game last night, Brainerd was the better team.

I am sure when Little Falls lost to MORRIS/BENSON last year, the folks up in Small Falls weren't sticking the fork in the Flyers.

One game doesn't make a season. If Brainerd plays Roseau in the playoffs, who is to say it won't be Brainerd riding the hot goalie?

One of Brainerd weaknesses is their goalie at least from what I have seen. They have good forwards and defensemen. And the morris benson game well all in all spearl had an awful game nuff said. Also Blanda we aren't just talkin about the apollo loss we are talkin about getting whipped by Roseau and taking a loss to Little Falls (without their top player). Look for another loss on monday in Cloquet.

Typical late season slide for the Brainerd Warriors... Why does everyone seem so surprised? It happens EVERY year. Only playing in 8AA will save the from a first round exit again.

Getting beat by Roseau is not a bad thing. Roseau beats everybody...bad.

I don't know where the cake thing comes from. All the players on this team are hardworking athletes with a blue collar attitude. In any game one team wins and one team loses thats why they play the game. That game could have went either way. Little Falls can enjoy their time in the JV playoffs this year because after that they're done in the spotlight for a long time.

theres only 800 kids in the LF high school.. with only one open enrolled kid and hes from Upsala a town of like 300, You could call Class A JV, but then you could say your Class AA team got beat by a JV Team, lets just keep callin em a Class A team and leave the JV to the JV...

Brainerd had a nice season. It was a tough break to be moved to 8AA this year. They would have been a 4 seed in 7AA and that seemed to be a good spot. Brainerd has a nice program with great community support. It is only a matter of time.

Cake eater comes from Mighty Ducks D1. Cake eater is Brainerds title because to Little Falls, Brainerd are the Hawks and thus cake eaters.

Assuming "props" is still being used, props to Brainerd for a decent showing in AA. I have a lot more respect for Brainerd in the big tourney than other schools that should be competing in AA, if for no other reason, but their hockey tradition: Thief River, Hibbing, East Grand, etc. It also affects 8AA. Roseau should be playing those teams not Buffalo, River lakes etc. 8AA has become a two-horse race now. Compare that to 4AA----night and day.

Sorry about the rant.

I wouldn't call Brainerd cake-eaters. Its a tough town. Now, move north to Northern Lakes, now you're talking cake eaters!!

I was at the game and I wouldn't say they folded by any means. It was a great game, give credit to Moorhead who battled back. They have been playing their best hockey as of late. i.e.( the Hill Murry game they looked very good) Moorhead was just peaking at the right time. Congrats to them for advancing and to Brainard for a great season.

here are a couple of examples where they folded this season: first up 2-0 on LF they let up what was 6 unanswered goals and lost 6-3 I think, plus Ben Hanowski wasn't even playing for LF then. Then later in the season could have forced a tie for the CLC championship with LF but lost to a subpar Apollo team , thus gift wrapping the CLC title to LF.
