A fair assessment of Youso but you also have to wonder if maybe some of what he does is what he is advised to do by his coach. You have to remember that some HS stars are often asked to do certain things by their coaches that they may not do on other levels. It isn't uncommon on teams that don't have as much depth for a coach to tell his star player to conserve his energy more for offense and let the rest of his team pick up the slack on defense. Especially if the kid is playing 2/3 of a game on a consistent basis. It isn't necessarily that a kid won't do certain aspects.

He should get some valuable time in Green Bay next year. Green Bay's coach (Mark Mazzoleni) has been around coaching at all levels for a while so he knows what it takes to prepare the kid.

I HAVE LIVED IN I. FALLS FOR 28 YEARS, AND JAKE YOUSO IS THE FINEST & FASTEST SKATER I HAVE SAW IN A BRONCO UNIFORM, I WOULD BE VERY SURPRISED TO NOT SEE HIM PLAYING IN THE N.H.L., TO SAY YOUR NOT IMPRESSED WITH HIM WAS A VERY SHALLOW STATEMENT, HE PLAYED WELL DURING THE RAPIDS GAME, HAD MANY PASSES IN THE SLOT THAT HIS LINEMATES WEREN'T ABLE TO CAPITALIZE ON. I THINK RAPIDS HAS A EXCELLENT TEAM AS WELL AND 1 THING THEY HAVE OVER THE FALLS IS THEY PLAY A MUCH TOUGHER SCHEDULE, KINDA WISH THE FALLS PLAYED THE EDINAS, HILL MURRAYS, ETC....HOWEVER TUESDAY THEIR PLAYING THE BEST, ROSEAU...IF THE FALLS BEAT THEM...IT WOULD BE THE 2ND MIRACLE ON ICE.

gosh, what is up with the people from the falls or around the falls with typing in caps? do people get together up there and just say "we are going to go on the internets and type in all caps. because it is after all the cruise control for cool" just tone it down a bit man, it sounds like your yelling.

i agree with GR on one point, youso should play more defense, that is really the ultimate downfall of him, other than that he is pretty solid. not the best player in the state, but he knows how to play.

Elliot, I couldn't help myself when you said shoot old dogs. You know my grandpa up there north of Bemidji, so I have to tell a story about shooting a dog. This was about 25 years ago a kid was trespassing on his land to go fishing and my grandpa went out to confront him in this field and at the time my grandpa had a dog he was going to put to sleep. So he confronts this neighbor kid about trespassing and the dog is running around em in circles barking. Twice my grandpa tells the dog to shut up. He's talking to the kid and the dog keeps running around em barking, and so my grandpa just pulls up his rifle and shoots the dog right there, and the kid in a crying voice says, 'ya didn't have to shoot him'.

Sorry to anyone who's offended by an offtopic post, but I couldn't help it.

What game were you at??? Rapids outshot Falls for the game. Falls did close the gap late in third period when Rapids seemed to tire a bit and the disallowed goal was a joke. The ref who blew the whistle was in no position to be doing so. Territorial advantage definitely to the orange. Falls scoring chances came from rushes up the ice with Youso, but they did not sustain a forecheck at all. As far as Youso, he's dynamite when he has the puck, but he is a one dimensional player. Very little forecheck, backcheck, or gritty work along the boards. A player with his offensive skills is going to put up huge numbers playing the schedule they do. Norcon...or moron?...your evaluaton of top end hockey talent is about as accurate (and up-to-date) as the ancient hockey stick your call name refers to... :o :o :o Jake has no choice but to be a one-man show in IF ...and he does a great job getting his teammates involved...look at all the assists he has.!

BTW- Congrats to IF on evidently winning the IRC!!! :P

Ooh, post hijack. Reminds me of the time my dad shot this dog that I truly believe was mildly retarded. Kept digging in the trash we kept in a small trailer--living out in the country we used to make a trip to the landfill twice a year. My Dad finely had enough and took the dog for a little walk out into the woods one winter (two men enter one man leaves). Anyway, dad shoots the dog and is about to bury him when he hears the snow plow plow our mailbox over for about the tenth time that winter. My Dad, in a good mood already decides to have some macabre fun and drags the now frozen dog out to the end of our driveway. Plants the dog in the snow bank in a standing position and hangs the now destroyed mailbox from the dogs jaw and goes back into the house. My mom was not impressed!

After lurking for 6 weeks I finally registered.

I don't sit in the Falls student section and don't usually hear what's going from across the ice. If it was as described school officials need to respond and stop it. However I did hear some of what went on during the game with the Fort which was totally unacceptable. I don't get too shook up about a couple burbot on the ice even though it's stupid, unnecessary and should be stopped. But anybody who disrespects the flag, both national anthems and opposing fans and players should be escorted out. There is a big difference between rivalry and disrespect.

There is a way to voice your concern to school officials - simply go the MSHSL website where all the info needed is available.

I have followed high school sports for 50 years and have witnessed some very poor sportsmanship by parents and students alike and it's definitely grown worse in the last 10 years.

2 examples come to mind, both from SE MN. One was a section semifinal BB game when one of the head coaches flipped off the opposing crowd of about 1300 after he won the game. He was allowed to attend the next game but couldn't coach. Hardly appropriate for the offense.

The other happened when I attended a well publicized conference game between 2 top teams with which I had no affiliation and sat in the adult section of the visiting team which happened to be a private school. The adults swore continuously at the officials and complained at a minimum about every other call.

Moral of the story? What parents do in moderation children do in excess.

THANK YOU! and you know what GR just because I've only posted once, doesn't mean I don't read the posts on here. I'm not an idiot. As for parents being directed... This I doubt. Everyone knows that the students sit there every single game. A fish is a fish.. our boys get excited when their fans are rallying behind them. Stay out of tradition.. it's not hurting you! And if you think we have no class... you were in the opposing team's student section being an a-hole to a bunch of teenagers... whose got class now?
