I would have to say my best post season rivalry would be LDC (Litchfield Dassel Cokato) v.s. Hutchinson. This has been a great rivalry for many years and has been a great one in the playoffs as well.

I was a member of the LDC team in the late 90's and i remember meeting an undefeated Hutch team in the old Section 6A finals in '95. They beat us by only 1 goal. The next year in 96' the LDC team beat the $#*& out of that Hutch team in the same 6A finals for our first trip to the state hockey tourney :D . A few years after that battle, the two teams met up again for another birth to the state tourney with Hutch getting the better end of that contest on a controversial call by the refs :(.

Either way this rivalry is one of the best in the state, and is always a great one in the playoffs.

For best post season rivalry its hands down any semi/final game in Section 7AA East VS Cloquet, Cloquet Vs Rapids, Rapids Vs East. The DECC is insane during these games and the teams all have bad blood for each other. Just a great hockey atmosphere.

From 1AA you have to have Mayo-Century over the last 3-4 years. I belive Century has ended Mayos season the last 3 years? Allways in the Semi-finals too. The Rec is packed and high tempo game. Wonder if they will meet this year.

Just plain Rochester vs. Lakeville gives us a ton of options, seeing as how Rochester and Lakeville teams make up about half of 1AA.

Old Section VI used to produce some great games at the Met with such teams at Edina, Minnetonka, Armstrong and Richfield. Remember quite a few games played in the mid-80's with a nearly 100% filled arena.

btw - someone mentioned Jefferson/Kennedy but in those days it was on occasion pretty one-sided. I seem to recall some section finals with Jefferson schooling Minneapolis schools in the V final played prior to the VI.

Yeah, the Jeff/Kenn rivalry really never materialized IMO. But the Edina/Richfield or Richfield/Minnetonka might be worth looking at.

BTW, the new #1 rivalry is DE/Cloquet.

Up North in recent years I'd have to say Duluth East/Cloquet or East vs Rapids. With the lack of AA schools in the area with the new configurations, that's the way it's been in the last ten or fifteen years or so.

There's been some good ones in the past though...

Hibbing vs Rapids was always a good post seasoner. You could never go wrong with Roseau and Warroad. Or Greenway and Hibbing. Or Denfeld and East. But those were all a long time ago. Things are pretty different with all the new sections and enrollments and stuff. Sectional rivalries and post-season rivalries have all changed now up North.

ER vs Moorhead at the National Hockey Center.

I was there for one of the finals. That was BY FAR the loudest high school game that I have ever been to.

Nostalgic Nerd...you're missing 2006 on your page with the East/Cloquet rivalry. Cloquet won 1-0 in the semis. They did not meet in the playoffs in 2007.

You'll have to add WBL Centennial to the before realignment list.

That's a decent rivalry although I got to say WBL-Roseville is a little better from what I've seen the last few years. Still though, WBL-Hill is the best from that area.
