Tiger,

I agree that none of these teams has been consistant enough to be a # 1 (or #2 for that matter) seed.
Some thought on your picks:

1. Blake AGREE
2. Providence TO HIGH UNLESS THEY BEAT BRECK
3. Mound I AGREE THAT THEY ARE THE TEAM TO BEAT
4. Holy Family NOT AT ALL SOLD ON THESE GUYS-THEY HAVEN'T BEAT ANYONE THAT HAS A WINNING RECORD
5. Breck WHO KNOWS-THEY COULD GET BLOWN OUT IN THE FIRST GAME OR WIN IT ALL. DEPENDS ON WHICH TEAM SHOWS UP. THEY ARE PAYING MUCH BETTER AS OF LATE
6. Delano
7. Orono AGREE. WHO'D A THOUGHT THEY WOULD BE SO MISEABLE
8. STMA
9. St. Louis Park
10. Richfield

I'm a little baffled by the love for Providence. One upset of Blake and that's it. They were beaten 6-0 by a Simley team that Richfield has beaten twice. I'd honestly be surprised if the coaches from this section rank them higher than fifth or sixth. Also, the St. Louis Park-Orono game this week will be interesting. If Park wins, Orono could slip even lower...

Suntzu,

I couldn't agree more! Both Providence and Holy Family have reasonably good records in this head-scratching section, but the teams they have beaten are for the most part......anemic at best.

Right now it looks as if Blake and Mound are the legit favorites. I can't beleive I just said that!

Mine:
1) Blake- A lock on #1
2) Providence
Mound
Holy Family
Breck
If Providence loses to Breck, then I see them down at #4 seed, and Breck at #3 seed. Moving Mound up to #2 seed. Holy Family will most likely be lower than Providence, and if Providence loses, I can see Holy Family going down to #5 seed.

6) Delano- Lock on #6
7) STMA- Lock on #7
8) Orono
St. Louis Park
If St. Louis Park can beat Orono this week, I can't believe i'm saying this... but Orno will be a #9 seed! If not, then Orono will be #8.

10) Richfield

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Providence is a bad team. They have a good first line and solid goaltending, but seriously, outside of an upset of Blake and a 2-1 sqweaker to Holy Family they haven't beat anyone. The combined record of the teams they have beat is 100-135-6! That's a pretty sad second seed in my book. Even if they were able to pull an unlikely upset of Breck this week, I don't see them any higher than 3-4 seed.

They'll be at the top because of their record

I don't think you understand how little overall records play into this process. STMA, for example, will be the 10 seed in this section. I realize you have them ranked ahead of Orono, but the coaches won't seed them in front of a team that beat them 10-2. Strength of schedule counts and section record counts.

Huge implications tonight when Rochester Lourdes comes up to Mound. Lourdes beat both Blake and Breck earlier this season, if the White Hawks knock them off, you gotta think there is a legitimate arguement for Mound as the #1 seed based on like-opponent.

suntzu is correct. Record only matters if everyone is playing the same teams which they don't. Orono, Blake and Breck have the toughest schedules by far in this section. Most of the other teams play all of their non conference games against 1A schools, and by the looks of it weak 1A schools at that.

Orono played Red Wing, Breck, Warroad, Wayzata, Blake, Eastview, Champlin Park, St.Cloud Cathedral (2), New Prague and Mound twice!

Blake played Cretin, Mahtamedi, Maple Grove, Totino, Orono, Burnsville, Lourdes, Roseville Woodbury & Breck Twice.

And Breck probably had the toughest schedule in the section with;
Marshall (#1 1A), Stillwater, Orono, Cretin, St. Thomas Academy(#2 1A and beat them) Red Wing, Wayzata, Benilde, Blaine, Totino, Mahtamedi, Lourdes, Delbarton (from out east who beat, Holy family as well as Hill Murray) & Blake Twice.

No way Orono is ranked lower that STMA, SLP or Richfield. If their goaile is back from the concussion, they have a chance to surprise everyone and head back to State for the 5th time in 7 years!

According to Minnhock, here are the teams in this section's strength of schedule vs. the rest of the state through Jan. 19:

22. Breck
54. Blake
62. Richfield
63. St. Louis Park
68. Mound
70. Orono
88. Holy Family
100. Delano
102. Providence Academy
125. St. Michael

With Brecks 4-2 victory over Providence last night it looks like Blake will be the # 1 seed and Breck will be the #2 if Breck beats Blake on Saturday. If they lose, it will probably be Blake, Mound, Breck, Providence, Holy Family, Delano, Orono, and the others.

Mound sucked it up the whole game. I've never seen a team play any worse.

Mound: 2
Fergus Falls: 7

Ummm, my guess?

FF: A lot
Mound: Not so much

I stayed home from the game because I was sick, but I got some buddies to call me with updates.

You weren't there? But then why in the post up above it says that It was the worst you have seen a team play? Your contradicting yourself I would say...

This is what bothers me about some of these threads - you don't know what's BS & what isn't. Players pumping themselves up & dissin' other teams. I come on here to get the scores and hear about the teams because I can't get to many games but there hasen't been a decent discussion about hockey from you WCC / Sec 2A guys in a while - with the exception of Earls and his head hunting! You should check out the other topics - they actually talk stats, scores & break the games down and inform so you get a feel for what's going on.

I was at the game, it was a bad night for the White Hawks. Nelson wasn't at his best, was pulled after the 5th FF goal. Mound appeared to be looking past the Otters, then when they found themselves down early, they didn't know what to do. Not a good way to end the regular season.

New Section Score:
Breck 4
Blake 1

Breck basically dominated the game, and as everyone has said, Breck has two sides. In this game the team that could make waves in the playoffs showed up...

How will this affect the seedings? Any Thoughts?
