Hermantown has about 10 sophomores with significant varsity playing time this year, so the near future looks pretty good :D

Centennial should be good for the next couple of years

Juniors won Bantam State
Sophmores took 2nd at Bantam State
Freshman are currently ranked 6th in the state according to LPH

Obviously Edina with their big junior class looks to be just as good next season. Assuming the underclassmen all return, they need to replace Leer, Cash Money, and Gleason.

Hopkins has a great sophomore goaltender and the sensational 8th grade forward. They look to have something real exciting in two years.

Holy Angels is real young. Minnetonka is all seniors and sophomores. Hill-Murray should be real good again.

There are five.

For a less heralded team, Prior Lake is VERY young.
Be kind. Rewind.

come on...only 5 really had significant time

after watching them against SCC last night (only 4 seniors) the Hawks will have their hands full in 5A

HM & Edina have mostly Jr's and Sr's giving them 2 seasons ( including this season ) at most. AHA does look good for the future....... will Prior Lake ever pull it together with the coach they have??????? And Jefferson..... well.......

SEC is going to have Woodbury and Stillwater on top for the next couple of years.

Woodbury has a solid group of Sophmores at all positions, weakest at defense no size smooth playmakers though. Goaltending is the question mark.

Stillwater has some size at forward, top 4 scorers are jr and 3 Sophs. Defense will be questioned, goaltending looks to be pretty solid for the next 3-4 years. Will Johnson stay or head off to Jrs could hamper next year.

Woodbury's junior class (class of 2009) is terrible with only 1 junior, Tony Pittman, even suiting up for varsity games. Luckily, the sophomore class (2010) is very talented and has 6 players with varsity points (could be 7, but the leading scorer on JV, Ben Konrad, has a separated shoulder and spends too much time in the box). Unfortunately, neither class has much of a goalie (junior class literally doesn't have one, sophomores have 2 mediocre ones). They will still be a team to watch.

I see a slugout between Edina, Jefferson, and Cenntennial.

Jefferson's team is run by sophomores, and they have been very successful.

Edina, and Centennial are in the same boat with solid talent throughout.

Wayzata and Woodbury (I am careful to say too much about woodbury) are up and comers.

Up north, Virginia/Mt. Iron-Buhl has just three seniors on this year's team. Eight sophomores and two freshman have seen ice time this year.

Their leading scorer is junior Chris Westin, and the second leading scorer is freshman Garrett Hendrickson. The third leading scorer is sophomore defenseman Jordan Krebsbach. Two solid goaltenders - a junior and a sophomore as well.

They look primed for a run in the next two or three years.

Do you guys think that Woodbury will basically drop out of the picture in 2 years with the opening of the new High School? The youth program, will split and the high school talent (which isn't deep to begin with) will be split as well.

Is the eastern side destined to be 2nd class hockey compared to the bigger, stronger western burbs? Stillwater will be the only "large" school left won't it?

Anyone see the new school starting out in the A?

Yeah, they should have a nice little club this year and next...then take a small dive for a year or two, then be back in the game. A lot of future Crusaders in the Pee Wee ranks is what I've been told.

Maybe not #1, but I think Maple Grove has to be mentioned as having one of the brightest futures the next couple of years.

Only 3 Seniors playing on Varsity

Top 4 in points are all Juniors

10 of the top 11 leading in points are all returning

2 Junior goalies on Varsity

Only 1 Junior on JV, the rest Sophomores on a good JV team

Bantam "A" team ranked #9, with a very good Freshman goalie

Alexandria has only 2 seniors that play and somthing like 9 juniors and 7 sophmores all on varsity. one of the juniors being hemingway one of the best goalies in the state. could be tough next year, they have a 14-8-2 record now with that young team.

Little Falls is probably going in the opposite direction. After next year they'll be down for a little while until the current PeeWees enter the picture.

At least he didn't say they would be down until the MITES are ready to play HS.

Bemidji has 7 sophs & 1 freshman that play.
They have several good sophs on the JV that played in bantma state tourney last year. And will have several sophs next year off a strong bantam team from this year.

Having two juniors goalies means nothing. if frakes doesnt get help from the guys in front of him it will be the same story next year.
