Are you willing to bet money that both Edina and Roseau will lose?

#1 and #2 lost last year. And the year before. The odds of both of them getting to the 'Ship are slim.hockeyfan43 wrote:Sparlimb wrote:I wouldn't call it game of the year. They already played once. The last favorite to win was 2004.
I'd say its 50/50 they BOTH lose.

True
Neut, that's right. However, there is a big, big difference between saying, "I don't think they'll make it," and, "they won't, and the two teams that will are _______ and ________."Neutron 14 wrote: I'd say its 50/50 they BOTH lose.
For Spar to go with Hill-Murray and Centennial is a bold call. We can just as easily say we don't think they'll make it.
I've got a great idea I've been saving for a picking contest and will unveil once seeds are out. Will be posted in a few days. Very simple to follow.
Be kind. Rewind.
Re: True
I'd agree O-Town. Odds on favorites are Edina and Roseau. But that's the fun part of the playoffs here, one game and done formats allow for lots of upsets. It is less likely any two teams we name will make it to the finals over Roseau and Edina, but that's why we're guessing. By all rights Edina should make it, but I think Holy Angels has gotten stronger all year long and after two catastrophic upsets in sections the past two years they are due for one themselves.O-townClown wrote:Neut, that's right. Just got back:
Edina had most of the play in the 1st desipte being down 2-1 after the period. Nice goal by Tonka for the 1st one and a trash goal by Gardiner for the 2nd one. 2nd period I thought favored Minnetonka, but they had 5:40 of power play time to help with that. PP goal by Tonka to go up 3-1 and Tonka had most of the play until the Edina 2nd goal, then the ice shifted towards Edina.
Edina needed to score that 2nd goal at about the 7 minute mark rather than the 5 minute mark. Casey Gaarder almost tied it up with about 2 minutes left after a giveaway by Gardiner.
Both teams are good hockey teams. Next time they'd meet (if they are both able to get there) probably wouldn't be until the Friday night semifinal (or consolation semifinal for that fact) since if they both won their respective sections, Edina would probably get the #2 seed and Tonka the #3 seed.
Both very good hockey teams and both could walk away winning it all.
