Best PWA Player

Post by puckster15 »

Not often do you go to a Bantam tournament in MN and find a talented PWA player. I went to the Stillwater semi-final game to watch them, they ended up playing the Fire.

I agree on #6 with the Fire. I did not believe he was a PeeWee. I had to ask someone. He has one hell of a shot, big and strong. Gets lazy on his backchecking and needs some creativity with the puck. But he scored twice. Should have had two more. He is a very strong player.

They have a number of good players but not one, that I have noticed, who is a game-breaker. #16 and #8 are the two I noticed.

Watchdog: how about giving us a "all-star" team from the tournament last weekend. You must have seen some great PWA players, as it sounded like a very good bunch of games/teams. No rules here-who were the horses?

Nice skater, but like you said extremely small and not very dominant at the PW level yet. Like a lot of little fast kids that dominate in Mites & Squirts the physical play at the next level takes them from dominate to good/avg.

The next two years at the PW level should show if he will be a high level player for his size.

As you stated very good hands and decent skater.

well an all tournament team? first of all i didnt study these players to choose the best. i could make a list of what i saw which probley wont be totaly accurate. i will omit roseau as i do not think its appropriate to judge from my bias point of view.

1. G- im not sure which goalie played for ep in which games but they played well. i think its jake gerdes#30or#31
2. G-justin Ketola cloquet#1
3. D- patrick graham ep#11
4. D- ryan bittner cookston#17
5. D- jared shevich cloquet#7
6. D- zach feltman grafton #dont know
7. D- their was atleast one from rapids that caught my eye but im not sure which one. maybe jake bischoff or cody mann.#14or#10
8. F- avery peterson grand rapids#8
9. F- reid holum grand rapids#87
10. F- chris forney trf#8
11. F- brady heppner crookston#20
12. F- number 16 from ep not listed in program could be 15 mason bergh
13. F- ryan callahan grafton #7
14. F- beau michaud cloquet #11
15. F- tanner robideaux cloquet#10
16. F- karson kuhlman cloquet#15

like i said alot of these are just some i noticed they not be the best but its what i remember. another note here the one team i didnt see play at all this weekend was warroad so i omited them as well.

Jake Wahlin is amazing i played for orono squirt A and we played him twice in hopkins and cloquet he had like half of his teams goals and no one could stop him and he was like as tall as my little sister. but we were close to beating them in cloquet the score was about 4 - 2 and i got both goals

Yesterday, White Bear defeated a good Moundsview team, 6-0. Jake was a big part of that effort. I believe that's a C on his jersey. I could, again, be wrong. With good refs, calling a very good game, Jake was in his element and looking great. He's been playing against kids twice his size all winter and getting around them to score. Best stickhandling of any kid I have ever had the pleasure of watching. If not the best, he is very, very good. Hopefully I will be able to expand my horizons at regions and maybe I'll see a few more kids that rival him. For now, he is very, very good and only a 5th grader.

Not sure what number Jake is. I was at that game and going by this thread I am going to assume he is #16? He sure worked his butt of yesturday, but #17 for WBL sure had a nice game.

As far as the best PW A player goes, you have to mention Zach Lavalle at or near the top of the list. I have not been able to watch a ton of PW hockey this season, but I have made it to 5 NSP games. Two against WBL, one against Stillwater, Roseville and Mounds View. He is by far the best player on the rink in all games. I think yesurday alone he had 5 or 6 points. He makes all of his teamates better everytime he is on the rink. He can skate, shoot and see the ice better than most bantams can.

After watching the PW districts this past weekend it is clear to me that he is hands down the best player Dist 2 has to offer, and to be honest, it isn't even close!

Looking forward to the NSP-WBL game, I have a feeling it is going to be a good one!!!

I wouldn't argue that, Zach is a very good player. #17 is Jake, I was probably wrong about the C, eyes aren't so good anymore. #16 is Ben Wilke. 3:30 Saturday at Tartan Main will be a great game and, regardless of the outcome of the other bracket, District two will be well represented in Regions.

Little Falls Flyers who are coming into regions under the rador a bit have a really talented player. #8 Matt Stumpf is a very tall, Speedy, Athletic defenseman. Haven't seen too many kids that are at his level, close but not there completely.

These three might not be the best, but Peterson, Holum, and Bischoff from GR are very skilled.

TEAM PLAY WITH A UP AND COMING PROGRAM IS WHERE THE BEST PEEWEE A PLAYER IS. #13 BENNY NEWMAN IS A TEAM SPRITED PLAYER WITH NO SELFISHNESS PLAY. A STAR FORWARD WING/CENTER IN MY EYES HE PLAYS VERY EXCELLENT POSITIONING SCORES GOALS MAKES ASSIST AND LUVS TO GET THE BIG HIT AND ALSO LUVS TO GET HIT. LOOKS TO BE 5' 2" BUCK 20 SKATES AND PLAYS BIGGER THEN THE BIGGEST!!!!!

#7 FOR ROSEVILLE VERY GOOD. PROBABLY NOT THE BEST BUT HES TOP 15. SCORES 2-3 EVERY GAME. MOVES PUCK NICELY AND USES BODY NICE. MAKES LINEMATES BETTER. but the best in D2 is Zach LaValle from Nsp. then #2 IS ROSEVILLE KID

faribault DOES NOT have a best 100 peewee player in the state. I will leave it at that since these kids are under 14.. YOU ARE WRONG.

They do have 10 of the dirtiest 100 players. toucha

if #5 is playing a district 6 team , he may show " hey this kid has some skills" if he is playing Albert Lea or New Prague the coach may say "oh one more thing, lets stop #5"

Fairbault ( dirtiest team in the state) and Prague will get pounded by any of the district 6 teams in regions, and #5 would still be getting 3 shifts a game on one of these teams.
