What this sort of analysis does is throw out bad losses and only see how these teams did against elite competition, because face it, that's what they'll be facing at state. I see some interesting trends here. Minnetonka is by FAR the most experienced against the top competition. That cannot be argued and their record supports it. They are #1 in my book. I knew Roseau had not played too many top teams although we did not include their win over the top North Dakota team, but they are undefeated. 3 wins over top 20 teams that include 2 over a weaker than normal Moorhead squad. How about Burnsville? Their numbers are very surprising for winning their conference. The Lake looked like the best conference (and maybe was top to bottom) but they only had one top 10 team. For as ugly as I saw Hill's season, their record against top 20 teams looks really nice on this list. How about the schedule Centennial played? They have been through the wars and won't be surprised by anyone. Thoughts?

Re: Interesting Numbers
Spar, excellent analysis. It shows what we've 'felt' for a while - there is a Top 3 (Minnetonka, Roseau, Edina) and a couple other clubs at their level or a peg down (Benilde, Hill). The rest of the Top 10 has a number of teams with a bunch of losses. Meaning that they are competitive with the state's top teams but haven't been consistently able to beat them when they face them.Sparlimb wrote: What this sort of analysis does is throw out bad losses and only see how these teams did against elite competition, because face it, that's what they'll be facing at state.

I'll be very surprised if this year's state champ doesn't come from that list of five.
Be kind. Rewind.
Minnetonka has the best record against the top teams in the state, excluding Roseau's one victory in an unrealistic game v. Blaine, it's a little hard to understand why in these rankings they would follow Edina if it is based on soley the mathematics. I personally believe Edina to be the better team this year but according to the numbers it looks like Minnetonka should be ranked above them
