Rosemount or Woodbury #1 seed in section 3AA

Post by saintpaulhockey »

Who gets the top seed? Looked like the Irsh had it in the bag but now it looks to be close. Woodbury has a better record, but lost the head to head - what do y'all think?

Hard one to figure out.

But, just going by schedule difference's, it will probably be Rosemount.

No matter who it is, you still have to win three games!!

I believe it goes by Section record and I don't know why it wouldn't cause confrence has nothing to go with it but if it goes by section then Rosemount has it with its undefeated record. Explain to me why they lost the number one seed by your saying they had it in the bag.

I mean that in the past few weeks they have lost to L. North, Burnsville, EP and Woodbury has beat CDH, WBL and roseville and has a better overall record. Before this week and they lost to the teams above it appeared Rosemount was a lock. I still think the Irish deserve it but an argument could be made for the Royals.

No questions asked, I believe it will go section record in which Rosemount is undefeated in. Even if the went to the head to head, Rosemount still won. My vote goes to Rosemount. Congradualtions to Scott Macho, all of his staff, and the entire squad at Rosemount for the best year of high school hockey in the school's history.

Yeah it will be interesting to hear who it is tomorrow. Both teams deserve it no question. Woodbury is obviously the hotter team but Rosemount has a tougher conference I believe. Yes, Rosemount did beat Woodbury earlier this season but it was only the third game of the season and really shouldn't have too much baring on it.

I think it's really a toss up. Obviously anything can happen in the playoffs but if all turns out like it should the one seed will have to play Cretin and the two seed will have to play Eastview. So both tough teams. It could just happen that the Royals will have to face their rival Cretin and Rosemount may have to face their rival Eastview. That would be some intense hockey.

Congrats to both teams on their terrific seasons. I'm pretty sure both teams set records in wins for their schools so that is awesome. Obviously things are going on the right track for both schools.

I think Woodbury would be better off getting the 2 seed beacuse if they get the 1 seed they will probably end up playing CDH and we all know how difficult it is to beat a team 3 times in one year

Woodbury is 19-6-0 currently. They need to win the section to tie the school record of 22 victories set last season.

That would be pretty intense for Rosemount to play Eastview but I think Rosemount will be #1 and Woodbury #2

And it was a goal in the last minute.

Its going to be close, woodbury can make a run for number 1 seed since winning their conference, but i still think rosemount's got it.

Rosemount had #1 seed in the bag then lost 3 or their last 4 while Woodbury won their last 6. Thus it isn't a no brainer any more but I would still have to say Rosemount gets #1 based on strength of sched, section record and head to head.

Basically, you could probably forget about the Rosemount & Woodbury game. Since it was so early in the season (Nov. 29th) and was won on a goal with 13 seconds left in the game.

I'm giving the edge to Rosemount but these factors could come into some coaches voting.

1. The SEC coaches may want Woodbury as the 1 seed so they could all vote them 1 and LAKE coaches could all vote Rosemount 1 seed.
2. If one of the 2 head coaches is not on the good side of some of these guys you would be surprised how that could hurt them in a close race.
3. Some coaches still may vote on the head to head factor even though it was so early in the season.
4. Not all the coaches have seen both teams play so they could just vote for the team that they got to see if they were impressive that night, if not they could switch to the other team.

I agree with you, also sometimes coaches will vote to get a favorable pairing or avoid a team they would rather not play. Especially with how tight 1-3 and 5-7 are.

These are all true and important. Does anyone know if any coaches have any "grudges" that we know of? You would think that all the lake teams would vote rosemount 1 and ev 2...just becuase they have seen them play and know their talent. If woodbury didnt win their last 6 it would have been more clear cut, but now they virtualy have a shot at the 1 seed. I think Rosemount will finish either 1 or 2, Woodbury 1,2,3, and Eastview 2,3. Its going to be close.

I was talking to a lake conference coach in this section yesterday, and he said theres no bias like this. It should be EV 3, and a toss up for the top 2.

If the top 4 seeds advance,(they all should) the semis and finals should be very interesting and entertaining.

All of these teams have weaknesses and they all have had rough spots in the season.

The seeding in this section was easy except for #1 and # 2 and it isnt going to matter anyway. Should be fun.

Yep youre correct. I meant to say that they set the record for most regular season wins in Woodbury history.

Whats the most wins Rosemount ever had in a season until this year?
