Come on give Reggie a break, he was thinking of the pee-wee B's where he slings most of his or her bull, I think he could be one of the G.R. froot of the loom guy's, B-Level kind of smarts! But if it did happen, we would know Reggie, he would be the only one watching, everyone else would be in the restrooms.

Hopkins
Roseau
Johnson
Duluth East
Apple Valley
Wayzata
Warroad
Ifalls

Break it down into some North and Cities brackets.

Roseau vs. Warroad - 5-1 Rams
East vs. Ifalls - 3-2 Hounds
Hopkins vs. Wayzata 3-2 Wayzata
Valley vs. Johnson 4-2 Valley

Roseau vs. East - 1-0 Hounds
Wayzata vs. Valley - 2-1 AV

East vs. Apple Valley - 2-1 AV in 6OT

Too bad state tournaments just aren't ideal.

More than Hill-Murray, I miss that game. It drew hundreds of old farts twice the age of elliott. Great crowds at those.

Ah, the name of the thread is "Ideal state tournament" and some are less than ideal.

I attended many JHS vs, HHS at the old St. Paul Auditorium when there wasn't a seat open in the house.

The tension (and smoke) were always pretty thick back in the auditorium.

Get used to the fact that the non-public schools get to play with the great government sponsored facilities. It's not going to change

I could see the MSHL starting a North of Hinckley State tournament to get rid of the Northern Dominance at the X!

I agree. The one title the north has won in the history of the arena is setting a pace that's unreasonable for the metro to keep up with. :D

I'll stick to actual section assignments with my ideal AA tournament.

1AA. Lakeville South, since they're the only team here that won't get utterly humiliated. I also like their goalie's name.
2AA. Edina, in support of my fellow Cakeaters.
3AA. Apple Valley, so we can set up a rematch explained below.
4AA. White Bear Lake, because someone has to lose in the first round.
5AA. Coon Rapids, because I was born there.
6AA. Hopkins has been a nice story this year.
7AA. Duluth East, for obvious reasons.
8AA. Roseau, so the north can be properly represented.

First round:
Coon Rapids vs. #1 Roseau: Rams win 8-1.
White Bear Lake vs. #2 Edina: Fun first round game, but some things never change. Edina 4-3.
Apple Valley vs. #3 Duluth East: East wins 4-3 in six overtimes.
Lakeville South vs. #4 Hopkins: LVS stuns everyone with an upset and wins 1-0.

Semifinals:
East gets revenge over Edina with a 3-2 win.
Roseau downs Lakeville South 5-1.

Final: In the second year in a row of an all-northern final, East emerges with a 4-2 victory. A happy result to a tournament wonderfully devoid of private schools and success by cities teams.

I will give the "dominance" nod to them last year. They were - can't argue it, and quite frankly, it was nice a nice change of pace!
