Would you be all that interested in sitting for almost your whole high school career when you know you're talented enough to be starting in games? It was a smart move on Collette's part and I don't know how you can argue that, logically, any different.
but if he was at WB and found out he wouldnt start until senior year and then came to HM why would it be a crime against humanity? You know you would be crying foul if it happened
All I know is, usually when a team says or a player finds out they won't start until their senior year, it is because they already have a solid tender in the nets. That being said, if Owen would've been turned away from WBL I don't think I would've been that upset. We would have had sufficient talent already, if that was the situation. I suppose I would've been upset we lost such a quality kid though.

Are you mentally ill? Just wondering because your just now complaining about Owen leaving hill. First of all, I dont think many Hill players or students knew how good he would be in the first place. second of all, why wouldnt someone with that kind of talent leave to start somewhere else? White bear is a solid school with a good hockey tradition and Owen would still not be being noticed at this point in time if he was still at Hill.

You have got to be joking when you say this. you should just take it all back cause its one of the stupidest things I have seen on this forum all year.

As for White Bear. Give them credit for the year they have had without Johnson and Hanson. Playoffs are ahead and they have a goood shot ot the championship, again, vs(cross my fingers) hill, again.

Until then...

try spelling my name right first.

im not saying you personally, but a lot of white bear people would come out claiming recruiting and start making a bunch of stupid pointless threads.

I was never complaining that he left, i just simply put it out there that if the situation was reversed, people would be up in arms

the name part was to CFM

the recruiting thing is that if owen would have left WB to go to Hill (say we didnt have flip) people would be rushing onto these boards claiming that we recruited him in the middle of the year and had him transfer. Once again, im not saying you personally, but other WB fans would

ahh....i got it now. your saying if owen was at white bear and went to hill everyone would be pissed and...yah got it. i agree with that, but then I would have to say the same thing about White Bear.
Just glad we got him anyways. and there was no recruiting, Owen just went to White Bear on his own.

You sir, are wrong. I think a coach would recognize a players potential, would he not? At least to some degree. If Collette had been turned away from WBL's program, it would be due to the fact that we had sufficient talent between the pipes. I honestly don't understand how you can think people would be, as you said - "up in arms", if Owen was hypothetically turned away and went to Hill. Seeing as our only basis for telling him so would be because we had a more qualified goalie at the time.

Sachishi -

So now you're deciding to base your argument off of the situation that Owen would transfer mid-season? Answer this for me so I can better understand where you're coming from. Okay, here we go. In this hypothetical situation where Owen would transfer to hill mid-season - Is Owen our starting goalie? Or, is he the back-up to a more qualified tender?

Option A - Owen is our starting goalie.
First of all, I don't think he would leave if he was in the starting position. But, if he were to I would imagine people would be upset. But the likelihood of a transfer when it is mid-season, he is starting in net, is very slim.

Option B - Owen is our back-up goalie.
In this case, I don't think it would be a big deal. He wouldn't be the starting goalie for a reason, which usually comes down to talent. Now, if he were to transfer to Hill to start I don't think it would be a huge deal. People wouldn't be upset with his choice to transfer all that much. They wouldn't be upset because we would be losing talent, because he wasn't starting. Our more talented goalie would be starting. The part that would upset people would be the fact that he transfered to our biggest rival in the section, HM.

Plus, I don't think Owen would like the idea of transferring to HM that much. I mean, he likes to play with the support of a solid student section that makes it to all his games ;)

Just a few FACTS:

Owen was at White Bear from pee wees through bantams.

When he went to Hill it was his freshman year... he was playing bantams for White Bear.

He NEVER tried out or played for Hill Murray!!!

He went there because his parents wanted him to give the school a try. He was not happy there and transfered to White Bear high school after one quarter.

There was talk of Tony playing for Centennial next season, but due to the eligibility rule I don't think it is happening. He would end up being eligible to play after next year's season or something like that. I don't know what either of them are up to regarding hockey right now.

Who is the one being sarcastic? I sure wasn't trying to be. They do teach us some basic logic and common sense though. Which is really all you would need to understand the fact that your argument is bogus.

When Collette enrolled at HM, he told all of his friends and such that he had EVERY intention of transferring back to WB for his sophomore year. His mother wanted him to get a so called "good" year of education in, and after he decided that he wasn't getting the grades he wanted and that he didn't like the other students there very much, he decided to transfer to WB and he was accepted with open arms. All of his friends are here, and he just transferred to WB a little sooner than expected.

As for Villneauve and DeSmidt, neither are playing JGA. Villneauve transferred to Centennial two weeks ago I believe on Monday...realized that the transfer rule would be in effect for him...and transferred back to White Bear to make the school day on Friday. I THINK THAT MAY BE A RECORD FOR QUICKEST TRANSFER.... O-TOWN OR EAST, CAN WE GET A RULING PLEASE?

From what I hear, Villneauve plans to try-out for the Green Bay Gamblers when the time comes around...
