To play another devil's advocate. I don't understand how a team can somehow not play as well based on their schedule. I think entirely too much emphasis is put on PS2 rankings. In a way its like saying that Farmington is a better team because the played and lost to the Rams 11-2. Are they now somehow a better team?saintpaulhockey wrote:First off to avoid confrontation, I think they are great and i love their story and would be thrilled if they won again, but we all know how hard it is to repeat. Their lack of schedule will come back to haunt them while the daunting schedule of some of the metro powerhouses (and East) will do wonders come tourney time! Mark my words, either Edina or Minnetonka/BSM will be AA champs.

farmington isnt a good team though, good teams get even better when competing at a high level otherwise they will be flat in sections, (in roseau's case state bc their section is a joke)61ache wrote:To play another devil's advocate. Slapshooter - you couldn't even pick your nose! As stated before, the Rams are cursed with this clown jumping on their bandwagon. It was a nice ride while it lasted.slapshooter wrote:SB24 wrote:#1 Reason they win:

Is this is any worse than those that outright dismiss Roseau as a legitimate title contender simply because they don't play a schedule that's supposedly tough enough to satisfy their critics? No, this year is not last year but given Roseau proved they were good enough last year should they not at least be considered a legitimate contender this time around?who_b_dat wrote:Nothing against the Roseau kids per sey but some of us are flat out tired of hearing about "last year." We've basically been asked to continue to bow to the Ram greatness and ignore the fact that many city teams were putting together some very impressive squads this year and competing at a high level. In addition, some metro based individuals have had very solid years but as we try to discuss we continue to be told that "Lock it up - Ness is God." As we would champion our favorite city club, some flannel brain would chime in with the old and tired "we're the champs until someone beats us" garbage.
I'm looking forward to joining the party when they are defeated this year. Nothing against the Ro-so-so boys; only the flannel brain fans who have saddle sores because they rode one championship season way longer than should be humanly possible.
first of all to answer atleast one post i havent seen roseau people on here bragging it up. secondly im from roseau and whats gotten really tiering is the excuses for roseau not to be ranked one and the schedule ect... third but not least i sat in front of my tv and watched moorhead dominate hill murry in every catagory of a hockey game but the score. so i hear all the talk about schedules but if hill murry is one of the metros top teams it doesnt seem that tuff to me.. it never seems to end why do people from the metro think warroad, trf, grandrapids, blaine, jefferson, moorhead, gfredriver, egf, internationalfalls,st.cloud, hibbing, brainerd, totinograce, are such easy teams to beat? its like the myth that never ends. get out of your bubble and into reality. ever team roseau has played this year has wanted to knock them off. every game has been like a playoff game these teams are rich with hockey tradition and they know how to play the game. it has not been easy for roseau to go unbeaten this season by any streatch of the imadgination. people are tierd of roseau talking on here who starts all the stupid threads? why roseau wont win, whos better roseau or edina. how about shut up and put up dont come with excuses if you loose and when the time comes and all teams are accounted for we'll see what happens. ive watched all these teams play personally and their is no doubt in my mind this is roseaus tourney to win. they have all the tools and have more rights to the number one spot than any other team in the state does. thats why their ranked number one their is no debate!@!@!!! nobody from roseau is sitting here thinking its a cake walk in the cities but many of you from the south seem to think roseau is. well good luck with that and if the kids think that way theyll be scratching their head at the end of the game wondering where it all went wrong.

Good Point!! We always talk about how these kids get the oppurtunity for open-ice to skate on in Roseau, (minimum of 5 hours of ice time per night Practice 3:30-5:30, North Rink 7:30-10:30)..but not only is it just the fact that they get to skate, they're also skating with there teammates this much. So they know exactly how their teammates play the game and it transfers to actual games when the players always KNOW where their line mates are/going to be on the ice...gatzke wrote:Doesn't scrimmaging the #1 team three times a week make you ready for tough competition, just a thought.td577 wrote:So three games against the #1 or #2 ranked team in the state doesn't make for a fairly decent schedule, just in itself. I say #2, because for the first meeting, Roseau was ranked #1.saintpaulhockey wrote:Last year they played a VERY good Moorhead team 3 times, and they had the element of surprise.
I don't think this year's schedule is going to have that much of an impact come state tourney time. These are the same kids who played the tough schedule last year, filled the offseason with elite hockey opportunities, played some good teams this year, and have what no other team will have at the tourney; the experience of a championship season.
I'm not worried about the "soft" schedule theory...

Roso wont win because they wont get lucky and draw 1AA in the same bracket again. *fingers crossed*
I'm seeing a theme to the Roso game plan by the way. Not only should teams strive to maximize their ability to win, they also should put as much energy into minimizing their chances to lose. Roso has mastered the second half of this equation. Is that the secret pyramid we hear about?
Let's hope that the random draw for state bracket placement at least has them finally pitted against quality competition this year. Heck- some of the metro section playoffs were tougher than Roso's road through state last year.

So what happened with all that fantastic metro playoff experience at the Xcel? Kind of destroys a lot of your theories, no?24Boarding wrote:Roso wont win because they wont get lucky and draw 1AA in the same bracket again. *fingers crossed*

So all they had to do to win it all last year was play one game against the 1AA team? You mean teams such as Edina and Hill Murray didn't have a chance to play? I sure wish my favorite team could earn the state title with just one game played. Those lucky Rams.24Boarding wrote:Roso wont win because they wont get lucky and draw 1AA in the same bracket again. *fingers crossed*
I've beem at games, seeing both teams play this season and I feel like Roseau has the better chance of going the distance. Edina does have more individual talent, but they also have to get out of the toughest section in the state. Roseau has the hardest working team I've seen and they can shut you down defensively, plus the fact they have maybe the best goaltender in the state. Another plus for the Ram's - They will not be as tested coming out of their section.
