#4 St Cloud Apollo @ #1 Little Falls 2-23-08

Post by HShockeywatcher »

Despite being the 4 seed, this game is played at Apollo's home ice, go figure. Little Falls won their meeting played at the MAC and since then is 14-0. Apollo has played with and beat some good teams in the area. Can they pull this upset?

No they cannot. That being said, tell us what you think?

I've watched some Apollo games this year, and I do like the way the play at times. But they are just not going to pull of an upset this time. I hope they do, but it just won't happen.

This game dosen't matter that its being played at the MAC, LF always seems to play well there. Just ask Fergus

Home ice hasn't meant crap to Apollo all year, although I'll say that the officiating crew last night did a great job IMO. Apollo will need to throw alot more then 19 shots a game on the LF goalie this game. At times I thik they wait for the pretty pass and shot instead of firing the puck and getting rebounds.

I'm also suprised that hockeywatcher started this thread, it doesn't involve a private school. :o

Apollo can win this game.

If Hampton plays like he did against Cathedral and Brainerd...and Sperl plays like we all know he can...Apollo could win.

Definately possible...not all that probable.

But as I've been told so many times... They gotta drop the puck as the game isn't played on paper.....

If Apollo wins, I'll be totally shocked. However, stranger things have happened, and LF does have some "issues" with their goal tending..

Granted it was much of game last night, but Little Falls knows when to kick it high gear in the post season. It won't be a shlacking but a close game 5-2 with Little Falls winning.

 That is funny i hope you are joking cause from what i've seen the Apollo tender still has nightmares from his last game against the Flyers. Also if he plays the way he did last night he doesn't have a chance. The only goaltender that can stop little Falls in this section is Hemmingway. Spearl will be on the top of his game he had plenty of rest during the Morris game last night on and off the ice. :D Whatever Blanda

Interesting how you think the second best goalie in this section is the only one that has a chance of stopping Small Falls.

St. Cloud Apollo moves on to face top-seeded Little Falls in the 6A semifinals. The Flyers will be heavy favorites, but the Eagles are cautiously optimistic about their chances on their home ice.

“We know we can take them,” Hockemeyer said. “Little Falls is a powerhouse, but we’ve already beaten a powerhouse this year in Brainerd. If we work hard we’ll have a chance.”

This hockemeyer guy is a comic. The cake-eaters a powerhouse? not this year

Demon - I think that the Apollo tender that played in the first game(7-1 won by LF) was not their normal starter. Check it out. The Flyers have to be on their game for the next two to escape with the Section Title.

There may be 3-5 powerhouses in high school hockey this year and definately none of them are Brainerd or Little Falls.

Brainerd and Little Falls are the best teams on Apollo's schedule. All he's saying is that since they beat Brainerd they know they have what it takes to beat Little Falls.

Nowhere does he compare Brainerd to Roseau or Edina.

I know he's forced to say that but you know in the back of his mind he's bouncing off the walls. Brainerd can't even beat LF.

Sauk Rapids and Cathedral can though.

Apollo's record against those two teams is 2-1.

Then he should have used them as examples. I'm not getting into the head to head argument with a losing record team and a team with three losses.

Little Falls is the better team. I can't argue that.

All that I'm saying is that it is not completely out of the question for Apollo to beat them.

Anything can happen on any given night...but on this night Little Falls is going to move on. I'm thinking...

Little Falls Flyers - 5
St. Cloud Apollo Eagles - 2

Very true statement. Everyone is beating everyone else this year especially in class A.

You are correct Angus, Hampton did not play in that game. If he plays like he can, they stay out of the box and fire a lot of rubber at Sperl, they could pull it off.
