a change i officially propose, is change "innings pitched", and add the pitching category "holds".

there really isn't a strategy in racking up the innings pitched, other than stacking up starting pitchers. adding holds, adds value to a huge fraction of the entire major league.

in case anyone doesn't know, as i didn't know before i joined my first fantasy baseball league, holds are what set-up pitchers get when they come in in save situations, and turn the game over to the closer. for example, rincon setting up in the 8th in a save situation, then turning the game over to nathin. rincon would then get a hold if he doesn't blow the lead.

does everyone agree to this change, or shall we leave it the way it is?
Where the hell were you last year when I was stuck with Hideki Okajima all season long!?

Yes. Do it.
Holds are more for roto leagues. In a weekly head-2-head matchup holds will be like 2-1, or 3-2. I don't really see the point in that, but do what you want. I do agree with the IP. All you gotta do is pickup starters everyday and drop them the next. I guess I'd rather have Holds than IP, but that isn't saying much. I'd rather use a more important stat like OPS to be honest with you.

Isn't it the identical concept with saves? We want to have closers to be a factor in the league, don't we? Why not set-up guys too?

I'm all about adding OPS% too if everyone else agrees. We have 2 votes for it so far.

I believe Holds brings more set-up men that wouldn't normally be used all that often into the equation. It's all good if you add it. Everybody else seems to be in favor. OPS was just an option. It's not really a big deal. You setup the league and I'm happy with where it's at. Either way W4H is gettin' his arse whooped...

Wouldn't normally in default leagues. I like to customize a little. I personally like the idea of a bigger fraction of the league (most of relief pitching) being a factor in your team. Adds another spice to the game. To me, that would be like having a fantasy football team, but not having a tight end.

I'm on board with holds. Like you said, it just brings more players into the equation.

Looks like the league is full. None of you other 11 kids better be quitters!

Does Sun Mar 16 9:30pm sound ok for the draft? I'll keep my eyes open to see if they free up a half hour earlier. I figure a late Sunday night is the best odds that everyone is guaranteed to be home.

would there be enough interest to make a second league?

Well don't sleep too long, dudes. Draft is tonight just to remind everyone. Starts at 9. Be there, or be square. ...Like EREmpire.

Also we have to decide if we want hits changed to OB+S% before the draft tonight.

As fate would have it. I feel like an idiot and apologize for not being at the draft. But if it makes you all feel better, my team is horrible and if I'm to contend this year it'll be from working free agency little by little all year.

For those in the mood for some McTabish anecdotes, Saturday night was a good friend of mine's bachelor party. Not that I went and got all drunk, but rather I was designated do sober cab the rented RV all night. Which was good and well, but then after bar closing time, people wanted rides all night. So I didn't get to sleep until 8am Sunday, got woken up at 10am by the same people telling me I need to come take control of the drunken mess and need to help them get the RV back to the place before it closed. We did so, went back and ate, about 6pm I fell asleep at my friend's house thinking I'd rest for another hour or two. Didn't wake up until 1:30am. And on my drive home I remembered I missed the draft and said "D'OH!" But, what do you do? I certainly paid the price if you look at my roster.

On the good side of the coin, we can still change stat categories if we want to until the league starts. However I don't really mind it as is, so I'm going to leave everything as it is unless someone else wants to campaign a change and get votes from everyone. At which point I'd be more than happy to adjust accordingly.

Keep it as it is. I drafted to suit the categories. I didn't take Pat the bat Burrell because OBP or OPS weren't used. Took guys with high AVG and hits instead.

Just thought I'd get this thread up again because I rule. Govs warmed up my seat as requested but has since fallen off. W4H better shine up his crown and hug it several times in the next 5 months cuz it's not lookin' good for him to repeat. My team(the Johnny Cueto's) has a 3.5 game lead as I try to fend off the 1 and only 1 - much like our days playing EA Gameshow.

If I may add, your strength of schedule is very low while I am nipping at your heels mr. schwang. Like Billy Beane's Oakland A's, everyone knows I pick things up in the 2nd half of the year anyway ...

Don't mean a thing... I was a 4 seed and ERE was a 6 during the hockey season, and he beat me in the title game - I beat #1, he beat #2 & #3 along the way. Keep running up that lead - it'll be all that much sweeter when I (or somebody else) cuts you down at the knees in the playoffs! :D

I paid Slappy to spread the Moorhead Spud curse all over every team in that league but mine. It's all over but the screamin' and the shoutin'...
