Section 5AA Favorites

Post by newSPUDfan »

I am fan of this section, but have not been able to keep tabs on the teams this year. I am assuming it will come down to a Centennial VS Blaine final (which would be well worth the price of admission since Centennial is IN Blaine). Is there a sleeper this year?

As much as I appreciate posts from those that were voted "most school spirit" but lack objectivity; I would really appreciate replies that make a good arguement for any team in this section.

Champlin Park swept Blaine. Is that a good enough argument? Don't start a new thread for stuff thats already being talked about.

Centennial WILL beat Irondale and that's about all that should be set in stone. Osseo and Maple Grove will be a good one, a slight edge to the Orioles with the Crimson limping into the playoffs. Champlin better not look past Rogers because they can play with most teams. Blaine has their hands full with Coon Rapids as well. I'm anticipating a Centennial/Blaine final because it's hard to beat a good team three times in a season (CP v. Blaine). I honestly think you could see any of the top 7 teams in the final.

Predictions:

Quarters:
Centennial 8, Irondale 0
Osseo 3, Maple Grove 2
Champlin Park 4, Rogers 2
Blaine 6, Coon Rapids 3

Semis:
Centennial 5, Osseo 2
Blaine 4, Champlin Park 2

Final:
Cougars 4, Bengals 3

That would be the kind of information I am interested in, yes. Although the 13 year old attitude was unneccesary. I did check the thread topics before posting and did not see anything on 5AA. I don't have time to read all the threads that do not appear relevant in the hopes I might find something and avoid annoying you.

How about this..... Don't read a thread that is already being talked about? That would end ithis thread much faster than you being a wise a$$.

CP will beat Blaine a third time if they meet each other. You want an arguement and not just "school spirit"? for anyone that attended the two games would have seen that CP snuck away with one in the first game early in the season. In the second game, CP dictated the game. Although the score was very close, the game told a diferent story. CP put alot of pressure on Blaine, and the break in seemed virtually impossible for the Bengals.

Like already stated, every team has to watch out. Even the mighty cougars have already lost one to MG and if MG can get through Osseo, upset special will be served next Wednesday. I dont know if Osseo has the mind st or right gameplan to beat the Cougars. Watch out for Coon Rapids first line of Randall, Verling, and Loisel. They may be on a bad team, but they will nearly match the goals the opponent throws on the board. But if you want to see some fluid hockey, watch the first line from Centennial. The non-senior first line of Pitlick(Jr), Hess(Jr), and Lovick(So) is stunning. They can move the puck very well and score some pretty goals. But like every European styled line, put them on the small sheet at the colliseum and hit them non-stop, and we have ourselves a change in the tide.

If I were you, up in Moorhead im guessing, dont put any money on a team from 5AA going to state. It could be any of them. But, top three is definentely Centennial, Champlin Park, and Blaine.

Best game of saturday is definentely MG v Osseo.

I will go out on a limb here and say that Coon Rapids will upset Blaine in the 1st round. Blaine is over rated and have nothing past the 1st line. Weak on the blue line and in the nets.

Thanks for the insight.
The other thread was 12 days old. I did not go back that far. Sorry.
Interesting that the Chiefs have an all underclassman first line. Do they have depth past that?

I expect Centennial to win this section, but Champlin and Blaine are extremely capable of winning it as well.

I never said he hasn't been. But stating that the post hadn't been updated in 12 days was absurd. how many pages deep would you have to dig for 12 days old? I'm thinking quite a ways. I found that link halfway down page one.

MnsGreatest-

You haven't taken into account Champlin Park’s success in the Playoffs. It is not very good. They don't have the experience to beat Blaine. Regular season and playoffs are two completely different seasons. You will see the men separated from the boys this weekend my friend.

So CP is going to roll over and die then...because Blaine has more 'experience.' Games are played on the ice...plus both teams still have to get through the first round :D

Lol so based on the fact that since CP hasnt done anything in post season play since 1995, that means I dont know what playoffs is like? I can tell your on the Blaine team, take an outside look and stop "cheerleading" for the Bengals.

My prediction is that the observed seperation of men from boys will be Jaeger of CP striding far and away from Hollerud and Harper.

On a side note, is there any risk of the Coliseum selling out on Friday? I will be in town and I'm considering going to the finals, since my section sucks...

I think it will sell out for the 4AA game but that's not until 9:00. Get there for the 5AA game @ 6:00 and you'll be fine.
