no. it was agreed last year that rapids would do the first state tourny, and if they went this year the greenway band would go...so the greeny part of the GRG lighting team is down there...PASTRAPIDSFAN wrote:Isnt the rapids band with the girls hockey team at stateINDIAN° wrote:i guessing no because in rapids it has to be an away final game for the band to travel...but it would be nice to have a couple bands thereDuluth 4 wrote: doubtful since its over break.. but you never know.

Good thing I read this, if I got to Minneapolis later than expected on Friday I was gonna go to that for the band. I wish they would gut this co op-change-the-name crap. Grand Rapids Thunderhawks, no lightning garbage. You go to school in Greenway, well, if you want to play hockey in Rapids you should wear the "GR" hockey logo. End of story. IMO.

still with a rivalry like this that you cant find at State 2 hours is no biggy.INDIAN° wrote:2 hours b4 the puck is dropped....that's pushing it, i dont think people would sit and wait longer than the actual game, i mean it's section semis...not state...Duluth 4 wrote:Earliest people will show up? 8AM. no doubt. I'm not sure they'll even have the doors open that early. My guess is they'll open at 9:00.Duluth 4 wrote:still with a rivalry like this that you cant find at State 2 hours is no biggy.INDIAN° wrote:2 hours b4 the puck is dropped....that's pushing it, i dont think people would sit and wait longer than the actual game, i mean it's section semis...not state...Duluth 4 wrote:Earliest people will show up? 8AM. no doubt. This game is anyones... I honestly cannot say if its going to be East or CEC because these games are always close, and the only reason why one team will win by more than one goal is because that team was up one and scored on an empty net.
Im obviously pulling for East, but its going to be an intense game. I say it goes into OT, and if not the score will be 1-0 or 0-1.

Karl's Keys to Victory:
For East...
1. Control the flow of play all game. They're one of the best teams in the state at this, but occasionally hit flat periods where they can't connect on any passes and struggle to get out of their own zone. If East can keep up the tempo all game, enough of their many shots should go in to win the game.
2. Shut down Jokinen. The Greyhounds went at him hard in the last meeting, throwing many hits and wearing him down effectively. They also have to play in control, though, as Cloquet's goal in the last meeting came on a 5-on-3 PP partially caused by a hit on Jokinen. They were out-penalized 7 to 1 (including a major penalty) in the last game, so they can absorb a few, but finding the right balance will be essential.
For Cloquet...
1. In response the #2 for East, Cloquet needs someone else to step up and do some of the scoring. Of the 8 goals Cloquet has scored against East in the past two years, I believe 5 have been scored by Jokinen, and he assisted on one, maybe 2 of the other ones. That's an insane ratio, but if East is too worried about Jokinen it will give someone else the chance to be the hero. Whether it's Carlsson, Roy, Ermatinger, Boleman, or Godbout, someone else needs to come up big for the Jacks.
2. Aaron Baker. He's had an up-and-down year, but has an opportunity to make Cloquet fans forget about all of that if he can join his predecessors Josh Johnson and Reid Ellingson on the list of Cloquet goalies who have come up huge against East when needed. He's performed reasonably well against East so far this year, allowing 2 goals in each game. We know the Greyhounds will throw the puck on net a lot, and it's up to Baker to keep his team in it.

Actually people would sit that early and wait 3 hours before the game even starts, students at east and even cloquet have been doing it every year, i would know because i do it and i see everyone else doing it...front row at a East Cloquet hockey game are like courtside seats for a LA Lakers gameINDIAN° wrote:2 hours b4 the puck is dropped....that's pushing it, i dont think people would sit and wait longer than the actual game, i mean it's section semis...not state...Duluth 4 wrote:Earliest people will show up? 8AM. no doubt. Since I hate basketball with a passion, I am going to say being in the front row is better. The only way you can get me court side at the Lakers game is if I'm going with Ari Gold.DE hounds 50 wrote:Actually people would sit that early and wait 3 hours before the game even starts, students at east and even cloquet have been doing it every year, i would know because i do it and i see everyone else doing it...front row at a East Cloquet hockey game are like courtside seats for a LA Lakers gameINDIAN° wrote:2 hours b4 the puck is dropped....that's pushing it, i dont think people would sit and wait longer than the actual game, i mean it's section semis...not state...Duluth 4 wrote:Earliest people will show up? 8AM. no doubt.
