West played a strong game, they played a good offensive zone. I was however dissapointed in the way that some of their players acted after they scored.
mankato west vs AL round 3!

Take a hard look at the history of this team. You only have to go back 1 year, the game in AL and at the section game last year to understand.davey wrote:So cheering after a goal by parents is bad puckluvr. Fact of the matter is West had a great cheering section tonight. Why can't you be like Jackstraw who came up to me after the game and congratulated West on a game well played. West played better tonight and that is that.puckluvr wrote:What do you expect, they have never been there before. Listen to their parents and you will understand where it comes from. The sad part is they are a good team, however, because of their attitudes they will never get the respect they MAY deserve. It is really too bad.just a guy wrote:AL just didn't come to play. West definately wanted it more Saturday, and I do give them credit for that. They played a nice game, and really took it to AL. I hope they play with the same emotion and desire Thursday nite.
Just keep in mind, you don't see many teams in a pile after a goal in the second period. ACT LIKE YOU HAVE BEEN THERE BEFORE!

I was talking about the first goal of the game. And to answer your question, I would act like I had been there before. The goal to end the second period definately changed the game. NP with that. If you ever played sports, you should understand you earn more respect and appreciation for your skills if you act like you have scored before.hockeystar56784 wrote:lets see you score a goal with 0.01 seconds left in a really close game against a rival and see what you do! the fact is it was the game deciding goal after that goal mw had all of the momentum, which lead to them coming out and scoring in the third. So how would you have reacted?
This is my opinion, I think they have a great team and are on great run. I hope they can keep it going. West came out hungry and played avery good game Saturday. Thursdays game should be a great game, can hardly wait to see it. Good luck to both teams.

Well, the thing is West hasn't been there before, so they are jacked to be "here." Just face it, your precious Albert Lea lost! And just cause you lost doesn't mean you need to make West seem like an unclassy or undeserving team just because they celebrate their goals.. It's called heart and when a team like West has put so much work and sweat to get to this point, of course they are gonna celebrate thier goals in the biggest game of their careers. As for the parents cheering, why wouldn't they cheer? Are you kidding!! This team isn't just the kids on the ice, its the parents, the friends, and the fans of the kids on the ice too.puckluvr wrote:Take a hard look at the history of this team. Or you could say that they've now won the section finals 3 of the last 5 years.Black Ice wrote:You mean lose in the semi-finals 2 of the last 3 years now. Yes that's true. It'll be 3 of 4 after next year.ap4mvp wrote:Albert Lea been there done that.

So, I guess Alex Ovechkin, Sydney Crosby aren't respected. Marian Gaborik seems to get a rise out of scoring. At a more local level, I think Blake Wheeler was a bit excited with his big goal a year or 2 ago. But none of these guys are respected....hmmmm. Sounds like sour grapes to me, puckluvrpuckluvr wrote:I was talking about the first goal of the game. And to answer your question, I would act like I had been there before. Sour grapes? Did you read the last paragraph he wrote?? Give me a break man...please quit with the whole "me against the world" attitude.hockeypurist wrote:So, I guess Alex Ovechkin, Sydney Crosby aren't respected. With Lourdes stacking teams, Red Wing's program and the emergence of programs like New Prague and Faribault, Albert Lea's state tournament trips are going to be a distant memory. If they get moved out west again in a few years then maybe you'll see some more trips to St. Paul. Until then be prepared for some lean years.

Tell me who respects Ovechkin and above all, Blake Wheeler. Crosby and Gaborik never make a man pile of love after a goal. Ovechkin and Wheeler I could see.
The Miracle was also a national stage that had much much more than hockey riding on it. And it was supposedly impossible.

I'd say going to state 3/5 years is pretty good. They've also done well (for being out of such a crappy, old 1A section). Every year it seems AL should be average, but Roy seems to get the best out of his kids every year, so i wouldn't count them out the next few yearsBlack Ice wrote:Then 3 of 6, 3 of 7, 3 of 8.........LZ94 wrote:Or you could say that they've now won the section finals 3 of the last 5 years.Black Ice wrote: You mean lose in the semi-finals 2 of the last 3 years now. They went to state in a section with no Lourdes, Red Wing, New Prague, or Northfield. Also Faribault's youth teams look very strong. Albert Lea will continue to be in the mix, but their chances of going anywhere will be a longshot.GinosAreGood wrote:I'd say going to state 3/5 years is pretty good.
