Agreed. That was a great day of hockey last year. Sat and watched the Burnsville/AHA game, saw Edina/EP, then run over to the Coliseum for the CDH/Woodbury OT upset. The only thing that could've made that day anybetter is if Johnson somehow figured in!
My son played down at Phalen arena last night and I once again had the chance to take in all the nice banners in that arena. Go Johnson!

North St. Paul defeats Como Park tonight 4-2 so the Polars will be Hill Murray's opponent Saturday Afternoon. Hat trick from Adam Slagle.

There are four or five teams that could upset Hill on the right night in this section, but North St. Paul isn't one of them. I'm a Hill fan and even I would rather see some semi-finals fun in other sections Saturday...

I'm a Polar fan and I do not expect them to pull off an upset. This is not 2005. But I will be @ Aldrich for that and every game on Saturday. I have an interest in all 4 games that day.

NSP vs. Hill-(Just because I'm a Polars fan. Hopefully the Polars can prevent running time in 3rd period)
Johnson vs. Roseville-(Rubbelke a Polar next season)
Tartan vs. White Bear-(Both teams we don't know which teams will show up, could go either way)
Mounds View vs. Stillwater-(Teams split in regular season, rubber game to go to Coliseum and likely face Hill plus 4 vs. 5 matchups are always great)

Last years 3AA championship game was definitely boring. Especially for a Hill/WBL game.
Agreed for a HM/WBL final, but remember the final in 2005-2006 (5-4, double overtime thriller for the Pioneers)? I've never attended a hockey game and been so exhausted afterwards! The intensity was insane. That game was an absolute classic with its back and forth action.

Anyways looking forward to sectionals as always. Doesn't get much better than these times in Minnesota...good luck to the Pioneers on their run!

O for sure 05-06 was a great game. Probably the best high school hockey game I had ever been to. Was it WBL was up big and hill came roaring back. I think why 06-07 game was such a downer because so many people had such high expectations, I know I did. Either way I am pumped for saturday, should ge some good games.

MMk, but it was so great to see White Bear just come roaring back after you thought Hill had it in the bag. I still think of the memories of that game today.

The names of that game seem like it's been a while even though it's only been a couple of years now. Hoeffel, Larson, McCallum, Faust, Hansen, Johnson, the list goes on. I think at the 3-0 point, the coliseum knew H-M was on there way. What a change of flow though...it's going to be hard to match a game like that so hopefully we won't be too disappointed this year. Afterall, sections are always bound to bring some great excitment. Fans of 4AA (or formally 3AA) have always gotten what they've paid for in my opinion...

Does anyone know the schedule for 4AA at Aldrich on Saturday.
Start times? Match ups? Do you have to buy a new ticket to each game?

1 ticket is good for each session. 2 games in the afternoon session & 2 games in the evening session. Most likely will be $7/session so if you want to see all 4 games it's $14 total. By the way I was looking at the website and it showed Peter Toy with 26 saves. Toy did not play, it was Tom Horner.

that schedule is different than the MSHSL schedule. the first game is HM/NSP game 2 is Roseville/Johnson, game 3 WBL/Tartan. Game 4 Stillwater/MV.

White Bear scored something like 3 goals in five minutes to come back.. very intense game.. I agree that that's why last year's didn't seem as exciting.

My views from Saturday Quarterfinals:

Hill Murray 8, North St. Paul 0: Polars gave all they could but Hill Murray is just too loaded. Philippi made only 1 tough save the whole game.

Roseville 5, Johnson 2: Johnson takes early 2-0 lead on 2 Power Play Goals, Roseville settled down after that & scores 3 in 3rd to win.

White Bear Lake 8, Tartan 1: Not as good as I thought it would be. I thought Tartan had a chance but boy I sure was proven wrong. What a rout.

Mounds View 2, Stillwater 1 (OT): Definatly the best game of the day, Stillwater scores in the final minute to send it to OT but Mounds View scores less than 3 minutes in. A Stillwater player got taken out on a stretcher with a knee injury. I hope he'll be okay I would never want to see that happen to anybody.

Tyler Zapeda's return to the lineup didn't last long for Hill Murray. After seeing limited duty against Moorhead last weekend he skated with the second line for a few shifts before receiving a cut on the ankle from a skate while crashing into the boards in the first period. I don't have any knowledge as to the extent of the injury, but I doubt he will be back before the State Tourny.

I disagree about it being the best game of the day. It was very slow-moving and the hockey played was pretty bad. It wasn't at all exciting until the last 5 minutes. Also, Stillwater's principal is the reason they didn't win. He took the whiteboard a Stillwater kid let the WB fans use to help cheer against MV saying they were just going to "rile up the fans." He is the reason they lost. In addition to all of this, after Stillwater scored, Johnson jumped into the section of about 20 WB fans instead of his own section.

I’m not looking to level any post mortem blows on the Titans but what the heck happened to their squad?

Da Bears are a decent team n all but Tartan made them look like an NHL club. I couldn’t believe how lopsided that game was. Was there one heck of a Friday night party somewhere in Oakdale?

The best quote of the night was from a Hill kid who, while watching WB obliterate Tartan, said; “I can’t believe we lost to these guys.”

Kudos to the Johnson kids for a rather respectable showing against Roseville. Through 2 periods there wasn’t a Raider fan in the arena who thought that a “W” was guaranteed.

The White Bear / Roseville matchup is going to be a good one with either team capable of advancing. Hill will receive the benefit of being the 1 seed and should handle a gritty but under powered Moundsview rather easily.

See you Tuesday at the Coli :D

ps- Best wishes to the Stillwater lad with hopes for a quick and complete recovery.

Zepeda got a rather large cut on his ankle that needed stiches. should be back on tuesday from what i hear. Although his presence was not needed against north . line two of widing singerhouse and westerhaus combined for over ten points.

Truth is he won't be needed for Mounds View either. That will be a walk. He will behelpful in the section final although I would guess that Hill has a pretty good chance to win without him that night too...

Hills biggest break came when Roseville upset Johnson.

Hey, sometimes it takes luck to make it through sections. Now Hill doesn't have to play a traditional rival questioning why Hill ducked them in the regular season this year.
