Sr. Goalie - 2009

Post by Roman Legion »

????

All of the All-State goalies this season were seniors.

I am at a serious loss on this one.

Again check the NDP Tryouts at Plymouth and who ever advances the furthest will get the award.

Laura Bellamy, Duluth East/Central/Denfeld- .931 save percentage and six shutouts in 24 regular season games, led to Section Championship. She posted big numbers prior to the co-op. 6 shut outs as well.

Chelsey Froseth, Roseau- 1.43 GAA, 90.9 save pct. Great performance in the tournament this weekend after backstopping her team to state. Tough schedule in opponents like Warroad, Bemidji, and GRG.

Jessica Havel, Grand Rapids/Greenway- She allowed only three goals in three Section 7AA playoff games leading them to state. She has a 1.93 goals-against and a .911 save percentage in 25 regular-season games. Tough northern schedule as well.

Liz Maidl, Century- We don't hear much about her but she posts big numbers for the team in front of her. Played almost every minute this year and posted a 90.2% on over 1300 shots, which is the most in the state. Does sit with a 6+ GAA.

Kaye Collier, Hibbing/Chisholm- 92.7% with all the minutes. Good showing in the tournament as well.

Shannon Beckel, AHA- 1.9 GAA, 90%. It will be interesting to see what happens here with her team in general with the loss of the very offensive Lauren Smith.

Lizz Wenzel, Hill Murray- pretty sure she's a junior this year, but its mis-listed on some of the sites. Anyways, she split with current senior/all-conference Alicia Paul. 1.8 GAA, 91.5%. Not the toughest conference, but got notable starts against Wayzata, Warroad, Bemidji, SSP, and BSM

I would add Newstrom Cambridge, and Miller Moorhead to this list. I would have to see the Century goalie more to see if she belongs.
