Um, well if Lourdes beat West, that doesn't show how overrated West is. It would be a number 1 seed beating a number 2 seed, and just because West has a cockey swagger to them and a lot people are against them doesn't mean they are overrated..

Well, maybe with a little more of daddies money and some prayers from Father Nelson..........wait....ah sorry, still won't happen. There will be no pounding of piss at this game. It will be a close hard fought battle between two solid teams. Either way 1A will shine at state.

Well, uppershelf, aren't you being a bit egocentric with THAT statement? But I will play along....'cause your rationale suggest that if Lourdes loses, then Lourdes is definitely overrated (and perhaps West was underrated!). Isn't the #1 seed supposed to beat the #2 seed? Dude, you may end up eating you own logic!
Don't let your emotions ("I am going with Lourdes") get tangled up with third party objectivity ("I want everyone to know how overrated West is"). They are ranked second in the section and have taken care of business thus far - how is that overrated???

"lourdes has a better overall defensive group than west and better depth at the forwards, which is why they won the earlier game against west". form eaglehockey- if they have so much depth how come west almost beat them without two of there best forwards and what looked like a very rust leivermann. depth goes to west, also west defensive group is highly underrated. #2 seems to be a very solid player and #3 played last year as a freshmen so he has to have some skills. plus i'm sure going against west's forwards everyday in practice doesn't hurt either. i got west taking this won 4-2 Litchfield- two goals,Leivemann other two.

Lourdes is a junior driven team, much like last years West team. Like it or not, Seniors will make the difference, exactly why the Gophers have struggled lately. The seniors from West will lead their team to St. Paul. West 5 Lourdes 2 with an ENG.

Lourdes is going to win. It is as simple as that.
14, 12, 8 are going to have a great game.
3 is going to get two goals.
The only bad player is number 11, so lets hope he is not out there.

Go Eagles

Pete Spratte is a good defensemen but I will not say hes the best in the section. He makes some costly mistakes like the turnover that led to New Pregues first goal.

As an eagle fan and alumni I would like to see LHS at state but I tend to agree with the previous post that Seniors make the difference. Also goaltending will be a factor and west wins that battle.

West 4 LHS 3. Scrable at the west end at the end of the 3rd but eagles still fall.

I know Mankato is really good, but since you said Mankato 6-2, give me some reasons.

Lourdes goalie is what hurts them the most.

West 5 Lourdes 2

Goalie advantage West
Forwads pretty even, but west has more depth and will be able to roll 3 lines more consistently so advantage West
Defense both solid i'll say toss up

If Pete Spratte isn't one of the best defensemen in his section who is?

And nobody should say Royce because he is the most overrated player ever.

That is absolutely ridiculous!!! Lourdes only beat West by a goal and West was missing two good hockey players in Deopere and Bruggeman. West is playing their best hockey of the year. I believe they win this game and show everyone that Mankato West hockey is for real. West wins 5-2!

I was at both games today and I believe that from what i saw that lourdes is the better team, was kind of disappointed because of all the hype about west but really wasnt that impressed. Bruggerman is solid in net, Leivermann has alot of talent, but Litchfield really didnt stand out to me (besides winding up about twenty times from the point on the PP and missing the net by a mile.) To say the least im goin 5-3 Lourdes (EN)... should be a great game though

you mean other than the time he blew by royce (one of the top defensemen in the section) catching a backhand pass from leivermann and burying it backhand in one move to go up 4-2. kid can play. eagles still take them at the rec 4-3.
wow he can blow by a kid who cant skate, good for him and spatte is the best defense man in this section that kid will take control of this game
it's spratte not spatte. if you're going to compliment him at least get the spelling right on his name. yes he's the best defenseman in the section and one of the reasons i believe lourdes will win a close, hard fought game, against west. i said royce is one of the best in the section. he'll be all big-9 and on the great 8 roster. i was making a point that litchfield was beating someone down the ice that doesn't get beat very often. i wouldn't put litchfield in the category of great players, but he is definately a forward you're going to have to be very aware of whenever he's on the ice, along with leivermann. despite his D1 offer i'd say leivermann has a ways to go before he ever skates at that level. lourdes has a better overall defensive group than west and better depth at the forwards, which is why they won the earlier game against west. both goalies will be hard to beat. eagles by 1.
How can't you put Litchfield in the category of great players?! He led the entire state in points. If thats not great, I don't what is!

In this game you have to take Lourdes they controled Lapic and Ambroz, two of the most prolific scorers in the state.

I know it was NPs second game of the year but west held NP to one goal and virtually shut down that first line the entire game

BSU, you say they (Lourdes) controled Lapic and Ambroz? First, Lapic left in the first and did not return. Second, Lapic is a Junior and Ambroz is a Freshman. Livermann and Litchfield are Seinors and a little more experienced and determined. Third, Litchfield is the most prolific scorer (led the state) and Lieverman would have been the leading scorer in the state but he missed 5 games. So, while controlling Lapic and Ambroz is nice, it is not quite like controling Corey and Ricky now is it? I think West controled NP this year as well to the tune of 7-1.

And by the way, Royce is not overrated. To be overrated, I think he would have to be signed by a D1 school and playing with a USHL team now. He is a very good player who will play at a high level next season. Maybe not as a dominating player, but he is a player that would help many teams in the Jr A ranks.
