I'm not sure the names of the girls, but the girls from the Duluth East Peewee b team. The girls really make that team. They will be amazing to watch in a few years!!

This is slightly off-topic, but do a lot of girls play Peewee? I thought after squirts, most of them went to the girls teams.
That said, a friend who had a hand in picking Olympic teams over the years, once said that the worst thing to happen to girls playing hockey were girls hockey teams. I don't know if he still believes that, but I think it's kind of interesting.

LBraden - I think I know who you're talking about..JJ?
But the other side is that I thought I heard most of the Canadian Olympic Women played a lot of girls hockey. I can buy it because I think the Canadians play a far better 'puck control' game (compared to USA) and that is much better developed in the no body checking environment of girls hockey vs the dump it and forecheck environment that most girls learn playing with stronger and faster boys.

If it were my daughter, I'd think twice about it because some of these Pee Wee boys hit like men. If your daughter however was as physically big, strong and skilled as the young lady from Wayzata, it would be fine. Personally, I believe the best girls players play boys hockey as Pee Wees.

I'm not sure our daughter is going to make out of mites in one piece...I'm not really worried about Pee Wees! Though good on the girls who do play. I love it!

I used to think that, tried to persuade my daughter to play peewees without success. Having watched a lot of peewee and U12 games over the last few seasons, I would say that there are only a handful of girls playing peewees. Most are very talented. At the same time, there are some phenomenal U12 girls that are as good as, if not better, than any of the girls I've seen playing peewees with the boys.Hockeyguy_27 wrote:Lily,Lily Braden wrote:This is slightly off-topic, but do a lot of girls play Peewee? Girls in PW
The girl from the Coon Rapids PW B team was a very good skater and had a very good sense of the game.

An interesting point to note for those that will be seeing the State Peewee A tourney in Willmar on March 14. The Little Falls team has a short bench (can't skate three lines), but have two girls who skate at wing and will play on the same line fairly often during a game. If you get a chance to see them play in the state, you can judge how girls can play against the best. The Little Falls team first game is against Eden Prairie, a team many are predicting will win the state title. That game is at 5:00 on Friday, the 14th.
