section final
I was at both semifinal games on saturday. This was the first time I saw denfeld this year. Out of the four teams there Denfeld was the most impressive, I think they have two division 1 prospects in J. Johnson and Stafne. Does anyone know if Minnesota Duluth is recruiting these guys? Anyway, I think Denfeld will win this one in a close game.

It doesnt surprise me that some SCC fans are complaining about the Finals being in Cloquet. Its not Denfelds fault Duluth is closer to Cloquet then St.Cloud. So get over it and come out and enjoy what should be a great final ! As far as Denfelds goalie goes he didnt have a great game saturday. But he has shown he is more then capable of having great games. Denfeld will be ready wednesday night. I must admit SCC looked good saturday. But its time for Denfelds return to state. Go Hunters !

The Cloquet rink could be filled to capacity and still it won't be "electric" as all the "current" will be sucked up by the cathedral ceiling.
Not only were the semi-finals held in Cloquet, but now the finals are as well. And, this is the second straight year for the finals to be held in Dullsville. How fair is that? Why not alternate the finals with Blaine?

I'm sure things will change next year. Especially if Denfeld and Central combine and go AA. If that happens the most northern team left in the section will be Proctor. They will probably move to 7A to fill Central's old spot and suddenly it won't be an issue for St. Cloud teams to head up to Cloquet anymore! What a chain of events it could be, but then again, whatever happens probably won't make that much sense..BlueGoose5 wrote:The Cloquet rink could be filled to capacity and still it won't be "electric" as all the "current" will be sucked up by the cathedral ceiling.

Re: section final
Jake Johnson is being persued by UMD and there is a rumor that Stafne just verbally committed to play there. That would be great to see the tandom move on to play together at the college level!masswood wrote:I was at both semifinal games on saturday. This was the first time I saw denfeld this year. SCC: 6
Denfeld:3
Although I would like Denfeld to go to state, I dont think that they can do it. As I was watching Denfeld at Sauk-Rapids, all of Sauk-Rapids goals came from lazy defensive plays by the Denfeld D. I think SCC will chew up the Denfeld D and come away with a nice victory.

I think the only way Denfeld can pull of the win is if they bring they're high powered offense to play and play well. Cathedral has a pretty strong defense and it will be interesting to see these two clash. Denfeld has shown some weaknesses in their defense and must stop the game from becoming a high scoring event.
Im hoping Denfeld takes this one though. It's been a while for them.

Haha Nice reference to the game last year at the decc, still a little bitter i see but i got a laugh.BlueGoose5 wrote:This game should be a 5-2 SCC win, unless the northern refs give the SCC goalie a 10 minute misconduct or something absolutely crazy like that. Then, who knows, anything could happen.
SCC takes this 5-2

5a final St. cloud cathedral vs Duluth Denfeld 2/27
SCC by 2 goals. Denfeld has only one line and on the bigger rink they will wear down quickly. SCC is a well coached and disiplined team.

I don,t think it would matter if SCC and Denfeld met on a old outdoor rink in St. Paul somewheres. These kids on both teams are all churning on the insides. My point is the score will start out at 0-0 and the team that plays the best hockey and wants it the most heads to State. I hate to pick as I want Denfeld to make the trip. I work with Jake Johnsons Dad and I,d love to see Jake make the trip to the X. I do believe SCC,s depth will carry them 4-2 with a EN goal.
Do I have to shadow Pavelich again coach?
