Tournament of the Goalie?

Post by HOCKEYPUCK2 »

Have we had other years, where the goalies played such huge roles?

I can't stop thinking about Lea Jondal crashing the party in her section by beating Roseville and Stillwater. Then being an OT goal away form sending EP home.

The 8th grade Farmington Goalie shutting down Eagan.

Justice standing on her head the whole tourney, as Alex gets out played by every team. :D That will get GOCARDS1 and his half brother cardswinagain going.

I guess it helps the argument that the most important position is the goalie.

She also had a big game against BSM, which outshot CDH 34-14 but Jondal stood tall, giving up only 2.

I have no idea who cardswinagain is.
But in response to your nonsense statement, Alex had more quality scoring chances against SSP, equal scoring chances against Roseau, and in my opinion, hung with Breck for two periods in shots and scoring chances. And in the third, were outshot, because they spent the majority of the time just dumping it in and playing defense to protect their lead.. WHICH THEY DID!!!
give credit to the rest of the Alex team who kept Breck on the perimeter and cleared any rebounds. and oh ya, the rest of the Alex team who put up the two goals. Alex=state champs 08

Let me sum it up in normal English for all of our non-ALEX viewers. Basically, the rest of the ALEX team, did everything that an average team could do.

They put two goals in. Something that an AVERAGE team like BLAKE couldn't do in the section finals. :D

One of Alex's goals was as soft as they come. That doesn't make it illegitimate, they deserved to win, they had more goals at the buzzer. It would, however, be nice to have an Alex fan acknowlege that, as the old saying goes, at least in this case, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. This post will be sure to draw some ire. That's OK, there's at least two Alex fans that don't have an objective bone in their body.

By the way, I like Alex. I spent half my summer with Abby W. and her parents. Top notch crew.

This is so much fun. You start a thread and put just a little bit of ALEX in it, and it turns into a complete ALEX thread.

By the way, Alex was lucky the past 5 years to have such a difficult section. hint....I am being sarcastic.

Man I love Alex fans.......they are better than 1A psychopaths.

As a 1A "psychopath", I appreciate what Alex did this year. Especially their goalie D. Justice, who should go to a D1 school, although many schools would love to have her. :o The U of M is crazy if they don't pursue her.

You are all right. Wonderful goaltending from Justice, Jondel, Burke, Carpenter,The girl from Farmington whose name escapes me (My apologies), A little luck helped her beat Eagan but man she made some other really nice saves. The word from the D1 coaches that I have spoken to on many of our awesome goalies like Justice, Carpenter, Fredrick, and Lenz, is Size. They said that with a smaller goalie the top 1/3 of the net will get nailed alot in the D1 leagues. I tend to disagree but it is what it is I guess. Jondel was one of the quicker big goalies though, she really came up big at the end of the season when it counted, but earlier she struggled a little. Lea is very good. I can't see the U of M taking another goalie when they already have Grogan as a red shirt. Looks like some D3 schools are going to have some great goaltending. Lenz to St. Mary's, I have heard Justice to Gustavus, Klatt to Gustavus, Jondel to Eau Claire. Burke? Carpenter? That can still change but that's the word so far. Best of luck to all of you and thanks for giving us some great saves to remember.

Jondal only allowed 3 goals. The last two were against the other goalie who they put in in the final minutes of the Farmington game. This boosts her SP to .96% I believe
