I don't see cloquet winning another 6-5 game but if they can keep anoka to 1 or 2 they will have a good chance to win. this is the 4th year in a row in the section final for CEC and the srs. need to remember that and play hard enough to make it to St. Paul this year. Good luck CEC remember what got you to were you are and play good team D.

I agree. Highly doubtful that Cloquet scores 6 goals. However, if they do, I guarantee a win for the Jacks.

Anoka isn't as good as they played againts Grand Rapids. Cloquet is going to win this one 4 to 3..............with the Anoka cheerleaders being the difference.

This is Cloquet's 4th section final in 4 years. It is about time they win one. They are going to have to get great goaltending and Jokinen is going to HAVE TO BE the difference. I highly doubt David Brown goes off for four goals again. I would also be surprised if Carlsson scored twice again. it is going to take a great team effort by Cloquet. The Tornadoes have three VERY GOOD forwards that could take this game over at any point. No doubt that Anoka is the favorite, but I am going with Cloquet in a mild upset.

I concur on almost all points. Jokinen is better than any forward Anoka has, but he's been coasting since mid-January. Why??? And does that actually make him worse than the Anoka's Big Three? Hmmm . . .

Carlsson is a sniper, but he seems stifled by Esse's defense-first system. In fact, nearly all his teams have seemed stifled in past section finals. I'd like to finally see him open things up, at least occasionally during the game. Change up his forecheck and have faith that his quick forwards can get back to defense. This is a game where Hatch and Brown have to be rock-solid dependable.

At some point in his coaching career, Esse has to be able to win a big game against a team besides East. I'm not sure either team would win a quarterfinal at State, as 7AA is a weak sister this year. But I surely would like to see Cloquet rather than Anoka represent the North.

You obviously have not seen these Anoka players have you mouth man? The two left handers #19 and #29 have over 300 points combined in their careers and can absolutely FLY and can stickhandle and snipe like nobodys business. The junior is a born finisher, it is almost impossible to stop all three unless you have a STELLAR defense!

Jokinen is better then any of Anoka forwards?
Even while hes playing lazy?

I dont know about anyone else, I could just be seeing things the couple of games i've seen them both play. But in my eyes, Any of the three top Anoka forwards are just as good if not better! Maybe him being on the ballet for Mr. Hockey finalist this year has brainwashed some of you. Their is not a doubt in my mind Anoka's John O'neill should be up there but thats just how things go sometime. On the lazy side, I dont care if the kids got all the talent in the world. If hes lazy, hard work is going to beat him. My guess is that we'll see this tomorrow. I could be wrong.

I have this gut feeling that David Brown is gonna come up huge again. 8) Everybody is stunned at the Anoka dismantling of Grand Rapids. GR was not nearly as strong as last year and i feel definitely threw in the towel in the 3rd. They could have kept it a lot closer. However, Anoka does have some speed to them. 11, 9, and 29 were very impressive hockey players last Saturday. Jokinen has to play better for Cloquet to have a chance I think. He's Finn, I think he will :D :D

Ha ha ha. Jokinen has fallen off since every team has checked him early in the game. He hasn't been producing too well for a while now. Anoka's three forwards were unbelievably dominant against Rapids. Looked like Rapids was standing still, and although I think this will be a closer game, I think Anoka will be able to keep Jokinen and Brown in check, and Cloquet will not be able to keep all three of Anoka's forwards top forwards (9, 19, 29) in check. I don't think Anoka's defense is good enough to shut down Cloquet completely, but they will for long enough so that they can score more goals than Cloquet, and therefore win the game :P . I'm thinking...

The situation in northen hockey is incredible sad. My feeling is that it's largely economic as population seems to be concentrating in the metro. I'm actually suprised that GR has been as competitive as they have the last few years. The North/Range versus metro rival is a good thing though so I hope a few stalwart northern teams can continue to hang in there. No one is happy about Anoka in 7AA. It certainly isn't Anoka's fault. Just the same, this member of Orange and Black nation will be pulling for the Jacks tonight. I'd love to be at the DECC, but due to geographical limitations I guess I'll have to settle for Rosemont/Woodbury at the Coliseum (ugh, who does a GR boy pull for in that one?)

Deke, Deke, Deke, take a leak.

I watched Anoka against Rapids. I was definitely impressed with O'Neill, Belisle and the other dude, but they were playing an average team without its best player. They easily could have had a tie or been behind going into the third period if Rapids had any finishers.

By the way, Cloquet has stellar defense. That's their calling card. Last game against Duluth East was completely abnormal for them, although when they play their biggest rival all a person can count on is that the game will be close.

I believe its going to be a good game..I have watched anoka'a previous two game and they do have some fast forwards, but andover held them off pretty well. They havent had any offensive competition, and anoka's goalie is pretty weak, and their third line is horrible. I am gonna have to say cloquet 4-3.

Cloquet in the underdog role for a change. I like it no pressure well maybe a little and they will be wearing their purple jersey's instead of the white one's when they were #1 seed's.

Cloquet 4 Anoka 2

Aaron Baker need's to have a strong game and Jokinen need's to step it up and play hard.

Cloquet may be the underdog, BUT

They defeated Dultuth East 6-5 at the DEC. I saw David Brown score four goals, including the game-winner with 11.7 seconds remaining in the third period.

His teammates supported and defended to the end.

Cloquet has lost 3 straight section finals, and this year could very well be the 4th. Think they can do it now without Tyler Johnson or Reid Ellingson?
