Blaine Goalie - ????
I noticed that Harper played last night... and has played the last couple....
I thought Hollerud was their stud goalie...
Is he hurt or something??

Hollerude was the clear #1 goalie when the season started, and played when Centennial beat Blaine early this year. I was talking to a Blaine parent just before the second time they played, an he said that Harper would be starting that game. When I asked why, he replied "because Hollerude knows he can't beat Centennial". Blaine won 5-3, but I think it was Centennials play and stupid testosterone penalties and not Harper that made the difference. But if Hollerude's confidence has been shaken that bad, you have to start Harper.Curt_mn wrote:I haven't been impressed with harper...he is solid...but not enough to carry you... makes the save he should but doesn't make the "game saving" ones.....

Hollerud hasn't been solid since sections of last year. He made some very poor decisions in the first round of state and it cost them big. He also has had shaky play throughout the season (first centennial game, Champlin Park and Andover). Harper has stepped up his play since the start of the season with big games against centennial and roseau. in regard to the "game saving" stops, one only needs to look at the cloquet game where harper made a diving stop that everyone (including the scoreboard operators) thought went in. harper is the guy that can take blaine back to state for the third year in a row

Re: Harper
i thought harper was more than solid. he made some big saves and minimized his rebounds. if the bengals get the same offensive production and stellar goaltending from harper the bengals will take some ppl by surprise at the X.cheapshot wrote:Thought Harper was solid tonight...anyone else see his performance?

i definitely saw that play. it made my night! there's absolutely no way Aus can justify pulling a hot goaltender in favor of a shaky hollerud. hollerud proved last year that he couldn't handle the pressure of the X.LetsPlayHockey22 wrote:Harper played great. Controlled his rebounds and played smart. Anybody else see that 2 on 1 where he came out and played the shooter? what a play that was. Im guessing they will stay with Harper for the tourny.

Very solid is an understatement. Harper should get all forward bracket games. Ride the hot goalie now.Tony Soprano wrote:Harper was very solid last night. It will be a tought choice for the coach on who will get the first game. Not a bad problem to have though.

Hollerud has always been very fundamentally solid but Harper is mentally strong and willing to go out and test the shooter which has really helped him this year. Clearly anyone who saw his play last night will agree with me. Harper is the kind of goalie they can ride a long ways and suprise some teams such as Roseau for example

Some would call 4 in a row a dynasty

I am not hacking on Haller because I don't believe anyone should be hacking on kids on the forum. I wanted to say that I watched Hollerud play against Duluth East where Blaine got outshot and he was very good in a 1-0 defeat. Hollerud is solid and many teams would love to be able to count on a goalie like him. As far as Harper if he is the kind of kid who can help pull off an upset more power to him. I like Blaines team and if the "good" Blaine team shows up they can beat anyone. I watched Harper against Roseau and I think it is hard to give anyone too much credit due to the conditions for everyone. goalies trying to keep warm, shooters and puckhandlers having a real tough time controlling the puck at all in the 30-to 40 below windchill conditions. I am glad Blaine didnt defeat Roseau that day in those conditions and ruin there undefeated season. Maybe Blaine will get em in the Tourney. Good luck to Blaine and both their very good goalies.
