This was admittedly a lot closer than I thought it would be. Props to SSP for keeping it out of running time. Shots were really close too.
Cabela10, I will admit the fans and students are arrogant at times. Sometimes it is downright embarrassing. But I will give you a little more credit than thinking it doesn't go both ways.
Also, who cheers for an injured player on the other team? Sure, be a little excited in the back of your mind, but who the h*ll cheers? That's real class.

Yeah, SSP student section might have the most uneducated students in the metro area when it comes to hockey. Pay no attention to those clowns. They didn't support the team all year until this game. SSP student section needed a program to identify their own team.dangles07 wrote:Hard to blame him for taunting SSP after scoring. When it was clear that was Walters was hurt, the SSP fans went wild and cheered like crazy...they then proceeded to chant "season's over, season's over". It was nice to see Walters score and show SSP whose season is actually over.
I didn't hear the SSP students chanting anything when Walters went down because I was on the locker room side of the rink above SSP bench. Tough to hear something going on at the other end of the rink.
SSP is a changing community with a lot of thugs from St. Paul area, you would think our basketball program would be picking up, but it isn't. SSP students don't understand hockey like they did back in the day.
Props to the old timers in SSP to stick around and cheeer/clap for the Cadets when they were getting there medals. SSP old timers respect a good game regardless if their teams win or lose the game.
I can promise you this, fans and parents of SSP were not happy about the team leaving the ice when STA were getting their medals. They were yelling at them to get back on the ice from the stands. Nice to see Nate Asper and about 7 other players stay out and form a line to congratulate each Cadet after getting the medal.
I'm still puzzled on why Coach Lagoo told his players to leave the ice.

Being a huge STA fan, that game could have gone either way. It was one of those cases where a hot goalie and a lucky break on offense could have led to disaster for the Cadets. I would say the Cadets were fortunate SSP did not score a weak goal earlier in the game. STA was in control, but it could have been a lot closer than it was.
In terms of the SSP fans, they were weak. STA chanted "real fan stand" in the first period, they didn't move, they sat the whole game. Also, the "seasons over" when Walters was on the ice was completely unecessary. SSP fans had no creativity. I was really looking forward for a little fan chanting battle, but they couldn't think of anything and had no unity in their student section or leaders.

So what if he told them to leave the ice and thought everyone was coming. Common sense as an athlete at the level and in that big of a game knows they stay no matter what. The captains and other players new enough to do so. Its as much those players fault as it is the coaches. THEY SHOUL HAVE NEVER LEFT>
I have never seen in any sport at a section or state championship a team leave the ice.
Again PROPS to the players that new what the right decision was and BOOO to those that did would everyone else did.
AD Reprimand your coach !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
