Wessy's
Nice job today. Even though you lost to the RAVE you still played a pretty solid game. A couple of your guys get a little emotional and lose their focus and that doesn't help the team. But all and all you do good things out there.
Keep up the good work and good luck playing Wayzata for the 7th seed.

Sorry the Wessy's didn't make it in. I was pulling for you guys. I really like the way your team plays hockey. But when you say the best teams aren't in it... you're putting down some really strong teams. Some that went undefeated in league play. I know you're bummed but don't lower yourself and rip on other's success.lance wrote:yea since we got 2 goals called off vs. jefferson big deal the refs screwed us over......good luck all teams too bad the best teams arent in it
Plus, didn't you play Wayzata? not Jefferson?

Not sure how losing in OT means they didn't back their talk? They are a solid team and have several really talented guys. I've seen many HS teams that have D1 committed players get knocked out of the playoffs. Does that make them bad players, too?countrygentleman wrote:Wessys=done for the year. I love it when a team can't back up its own talk!
Sure I've seen some of their "posts that boast" - but a lot of you guys on here do that very same thing. I also have seen some very complimentary posts from the WESSY'S towards other teams. They're good kids and they work their butts off on the ice. They never give up.
One thing to remember... you guys are all playing at the same level - you really ought to respect each other.
Ok "stats"...pshhhh!!MNHockeyStats wrote:Not sure how losing in OT means they didn't back their talk? They are a solid team and have several really talented guys. Wessy's played a hell of a game, as did Jefferson. The refs may have sucked in that game but I watched a lot of the games this past weekend and the refs sucked in all of the games. And to say that the best teams are not in it. The top 5 seeds from regions are in the tourney. Isn't that how it is suppose to be? So some calls didn't go your way. It happens to every team. Its play off hockey anything can happen. Good luck to the teams at state.

Wow. Just wow. I know this is an old post, but I have no choice but to address it since I was on this team.countrygentleman wrote:I am brilliantly brilliant. I am questioning why don't the kids play for the cities in which they live in? Is it because they don't like to mingle with the lesser class? If somebody can answer me why they can't play for their city, then I will understand this team.
Don't flame me for being puzzled as to why the kids can't play for their respective cities. Why doesn't Edina, Wayzata, Bloomington Jeff./Ken., EP, form a team for those that are cut from their Varsity teams? I just don't see why private schools get to form their own alliance team. See where I'm coming from? Should it matter if the kids go to a private or public school? It should matter where they live.
Whoever said the thing about competition,
I total agree. The Metro League and all of Junior Gold needs more competitive teams. I am not trying to say Wessys shouldn't be allowed because they are good. More competition=better league.
By the way NikeBauer, stay on topic. When I said "they shouldn't be allowed to play" I was referring to Wessy's Boys, not the individuals themselves. You are clearly the slow one. If you can read, I never stated anything about kids play opportunities. I was simply questioning WHERE they would play. Too many big words for ya?
This team was "Eastside" when I played for them (Wes'), until he fell in practice a few years after and died when I was no longer playing for them. Essentially, that team was GHETTO (i.e., inner city, East Side kids from St. Paul), and it was by far NOT an all-star team. We were no doubt a decent team when I played there, but we were far from an all-star team, IMO.
We did have kids from Tartan, Woodbury and Hill, but to be honest quite a few of the kids from the Johnson area were probably more tallented (a couple were Team Minnesota when they were younger) but were more or less losers: kids that were druggies or didn't keep their heads in their books.
Bottom line is, if you REALLY wanted to shine and dominate you could play in this league, sort of like Brian Bonin's little brother grew up playing C leagues his whole life in WBL, even thought his brother went D-1 and played pro and he clearly had tallent.
It's true that from time to time they get some REAL (possible D-1 and D-3) tallent, but it's not very common. Of course this was a decade ago, so It may have changed, but that's just a little info on the organization. God bless 'em (and God bless Wes).

the kids on wess go to school in st paul, and mn hockey rules say you can play for the city you go to school in.
also generally the kids that go to the st paul private schools live in st paul or the surrounding suburbs. i see no issue with a kid that lives in roseville or any other suburb of st paul playing for wessy's boiis. keep in mind there are only 15 JGA teams in the MHL
