This is what is should be

f-Brown, Rosemount
f-Everson, Edina
f-barnes, burnsville
d-student, bsm
d-gardiner, minnetonka
g-yumusaklar, lakeville south

but im sure the people picking this team will over look the actual ability of these guys, and pick the team off of stats only, therefore leaving either barnes or yumusakar off, or both

And why is Dan Cecka's name so funny? 30 goals and 62 points going into the state tournament is nothing to laugh at.

For one thing, Hill's weak conference.

Hill can't fix the conference they are in and it doesn't take away from the player Cecka is. More than likely he won't be a first team candidate...2nd or 3rd team would be more likely.

The laughing was centered more on him being a first team pick.

At least 44 of his points were against very poor teams.

You are forgetting that the Star Tribune likes to pick players that are playing in the upcoming tourney. It was between him and JT Brown of Rosemount.

They do?

Last year, their first team was:

F - Michael Dorr, Roseville, SR.
F - Jake Hansen, White Bear Lake, JR.
F - Nick Larson, Hill-Murray, SR.
D - Bryan Brutlag, Holy Angels, SR.
D - Ryan McDonagh, Cretin-Derham Hall, SR.
G - Ben Hause, Cretin-Derham Hall, SR.

Only one of those guys played in the tourney last year (Nick Larson). I'd say that kills your theory pretty quick.

Danny Mattson is on my all metro. There are so many good players all that have been mentioned are worthy. Should be interesting to see who makes it.

I agree with wbmd, i dont think cecka is 1st team all metro worthy given
37 of his points came against these 5 teams: Simley (11), Sibley (7), Richfield (6), Park (6), and North (7)

Nice point totals for Cecka, but Edina's two top goal scorers Edina's Everson has 41, and Anders Lee has 32 goals without the luxury of playing with Budish and Everson. Edina's schedule does not have the luxury of the double conference stat games that HM, BSM, and HA has. Danny M. is deserving but even his pt. totals are down for his standards this year.

I was impressed by the interest some scouts showed in Cecka.

WBMD has no cred.

Who cares about the "all metro team." Not saying these guys aren't good and not to take anything away from them...but to pick a group of top players from the metro and ignore the great players from the rest of the state is a JOKE. (And people wonder why the outstate teams call us folks in the metro "cidiots." We are sooo self-absorbed.) Why don't we take it a step further, let's do a story on the best 5 players from every suburb, so everyone can feel good abut themselves.

Phillippi won the Brimsek award and took his team back to the state tournament...it's only fitting that he should be the 1st team goalie..

disagree, hes no where near the top goalie in the metro. He, like Cashetta is the product of an average goalie on a great team. With the team hes on and the schedule they play, if he was that good his stats should rival those of Lee from Roseau

They have an AP allstate team. Relax, many regional papers pick teams in all sports for their area.
