Let's not get this locked up. I know we have sort of a love/hate relationship Goldy but you are right. There are quite a few people that may be blinded by their link to the town of Little Falls. This is a bad draw and I will be cheering for the Flyers hard and I have to believe they have a chance but my head is telling me a repeat of last year even if I don't think STA was deserving of the one seed.Goldy Gopher wrote:Let's not get this locked up. Thanks for the help on the colors. I'll be sure to use those in future arguments with you.

2 Players... i think not, in the section finals LF won 5-2 with Wesley Wahtashek scoring a hat trick, along with 1 goal By Jordan Gosiak, and 1 by Ben Hanowski.. obivously not a 2 players seeing how Beau only had 2 assists, I think your underestimating the power of the 2nd and 3rd lines of LF.. and i think thats what you'll see on Wed. the 2nd and 3rd liners setting the stage. for the Powerful First Liners everyone knows abouttopshelf10 wrote:.Marshall wrote:Im not sure what candy-ass fans your talking about Junior but, These guys for LF are beyond fired up... the atmosphere around the ice is pure intensity this is not going to be no push over, they lost a close one last year to the #1 seed but this year will be a differnet story, they will not let that happen again.

I look forward to it. Too bad I don't have enough Flyer bias to argue like some of these people on this thread picking them to win by three goals. I don't even know if I can bring myself to say they'll win by one. Looks like it will have to wait.
If the Flyers had Festler they'd be undefeated and probably wouldn't have even had a close game against Cathedral or Lourdes. They also would be a lock for a top 4 seed and maybe even a few spots higher. I am still bitter about this and think about the possibilities but the keyword is iffranchize_03 wrote:If the Flyers still had Festler they would maybe have a chance, STA has just too much depth.
6-2 STA
I see we established that the way the seeds go is questionable with this thread but it sort of seems like the only reason people are saying that is because they are upset LF fans. This is the perfect opportunity for LF to gain respect and for Sperl to change everyone's mind about him. (not to mention to redeem himself after last years third period peformance against Hermantown) Personally, I think Hermantown was better last year than STA is this year and I only attended the Alexandria game last week but Sperl is more confident in net this year and he looked better at reacting to the puck and positioning himself. Anything can happen. And for all the STA fans that will be at the game Wednesday, it really doesn't matter if you win or lose because some people might call the situation a win/win. If you lose, there is always that set of strong, broad shoulders for you to cry on standing right next to you.

There's 30 points between the Hanowski brothers and the rest of the team, that is not very dispersed scoring. I do not see LF 2nd and 3rd lines doing anything with most of their players around 15-20 pts. Outside of LF's first line they have nothing, maybe Watyashek. Plus, their team lacks experience against high caliber teams. They are kind stuck in the middle of the state without much competition..Marshall wrote:2 Players... i think not, in the section finals LF won 5-2 with Wesley Wahtashek scoring a hat trick, along with 1 goal By Jordan Gosiak, and 1 by Ben Hanowski.. obivously not a 2 players seeing how Beau only had 2 assists, I think your underestimating the power of the 2nd and 3rd lines of LF.. and i think thats what you'll see on Wed. the 2nd and 3rd liners setting the stage. for the Powerful First Liners everyone knows abouttopshelf10 wrote:.Marshall wrote:Im not sure what candy-ass fans your talking about Junior but, These guys for LF are beyond fired up... the atmosphere around the ice is pure intensity this is not going to be no push over, they lost a close one last year to the #1 seed but this year will be a differnet story, they will not let that happen again.

Original dherman... I agree that Hermantown last year was better than STA this year but it's not last year. LF has no strength of schedule and is not prepared for this game like STA will be. Walters is going to walk all over LF and put up a Hatty and show everyone watching who he is just like Jordan Schroeder did to Virginia in '06. Game over for LF, looks like another 2 and out tourney...good luck and don't get too settled into your hotel room.dherman8 wrote:I see we established that the way the seeds go is questionable with this thread but it sort of seems like the only reason people are saying that is because they are upset LF fans. Here is my thought process: LF had a worse schedule last year than this year, they were leading Hermantown 3-2 after two periods last year, no Festler this year, Sperl is better than last year, STA playing good against AA teams, no Anders Lee, STA not deserving of the one seed, possibly Little Falls' last shot for a while, Maybe STA coasting, LF better than Mahtomedi and Breck, young goaltending for STA. I don't see 7 to 1.STAte Champs wrote:Original dherman... I agree that Hermantown last year was better than STA this year but it's not last year. For STAte Champs: To say that LF won't be prepared is a joke. When any team is facing a team like St. Thomas you can't help but focus that much more prior to the drop of the puck. That's why being labeled #1 can be a hex - everyone and their sister is gunning for you. LF will show up and give it their best shot. Will it be enough? More than likely not. There is a reason the games are still played. Don't forget that and put St. Thomas in the semis.
I love it: Flyers fans are ragged on by some for not standing up for their team and by others for being overconfident. What are you a bunch of preppy STA fans??? One thing people have overlooked is the fact that the 2nd and 3rd lines of LF are way more physical than any group LF has sent. They will hit and hit and hit. They finish their checks and just when the little blue boys think it is safe they will get hit again. Soon STA'ers will be looking for the hit rather than connecting on the pass. Another thing you "hockey fans" are overlooking from last year's game is the Flyers as a team got tight toward the end. Watch the game, they were not playing the same in the third as they did in the 1st and 2nd. Don't pin that whole game on Sperl. This seed 4, random draw 4 thing is a joke, not because we get #1 two years in a row but it is total nonsense to have a team like Litchfield not facing the #1 seed. And STA will be crying they had to play a potential 4 seed when they get beat 5-3

I could not disagree more about Lf only having one line that keeps them in games! Lf has 3 not 1 but 3 solid and evenly matched lines. sure the hanowski boys contribute quite a bit to the team with points but it takes all players to keeps the team going! The 2nd line has hirsh who has speed and can handle the puck well, nelson who has lack of size but holds his own with speed and outstanding stickhandleing skills but needs to pass the puck more, Laird who is the enforcer of the team and loves to hit and use his body! the 3rd line is just as good if not better. They consist of Gosiak who has size and speed that will domonate, lange who also is a big kid that is one of the weaker ones on the team but has very good work ethic and will not give up, and sylvester who all around is a good player with great hands and speed but who also lacks size. If all the systems of the LF flyers works from line 1-3 they will do just fine and hold there own in this game but, yes there is a but, they need to come to play right away no half periods or taking time off! I vote LF to win 3-1 with a empty net.

Ahh....that's cute. You guys can debate and hypothesize all you want about how good your 2nd and 3rd lines are. No amount of school spirit can erase the fact that Little Falls basically plays a Bantam schedule. Forgive me if I'm not blown away by your glorious victories over Wadena-Deer Creek, ROCORI, and Sartell. Little Falls made it to the tourney fair and square, but before we start etching your name on the trophy why don't you guys compare schedules and admit you are fighting an up hill battle against a top tier team.

I hear you no excuses, but I think STA has to man up here in a few years, and step up to AA, then we can see what they are actually made of.droppin'gloves wrote:Ahh....that's cute. I completely agree. If they continue to have the same success for a couple more years, then they should absolutely move up to AA. Everyone seems to forget that they have had 5 state tournament appearances all time. All of them since 1999 and only one state championship. Let's all wait and see if the glory days continue after this years seniors graduate.GopherPuckPlayer wrote:I hear you no excuses, but I think STA has to man up here in a few years, and step up to AA, then we can see what they are actually made of.droppin'gloves wrote:Ahh....that's cute.
