Coming in Hot
Which team do you think is playing the best hockey right now coming into the state tournament? Upset predictions?

3 teams intrigue me
1. Roseau...well oiled machine running on all cylinders...can anyone score some goals on them, let alone beat them?
2. Woodbury...9 in a row, and an absolute thrashing of a good team in Rosemount, these guys are hot
3. Lakeville South...10-2-1 in the last 13 after starting the year cold. 3 consecutive shutouts in sections. can this "little engine that could" ride the states top goalie to an upset or two?

Re: Coming in Hot
Roseau-has finished undefeated, but of late seems to be ramping up the scoring, 6-1 over win over the spuds was impressive. Have had some close wins against so-so teams but great teams find away to win, and they have done that better than anyone in the state. Enough said about Ness, Landman, Oliver and Co. M. Lee will be the MVP if Roseau prevails.minnman263 wrote:Which team do you think is playing the best hockey right now coming into the state tournament? Upset predictions?
Edina: Recent changes to lineup, including loading their first line with Lee-Budish-Everson has produced, as that line tallied 17goals during sections. That line will inflict damage at somepoint in the game, as you will not stop them completely. The 2nd line combination with the Gaarder bros. & Leer will skate against any 1st line thrown on the ice and neutralize them effectively. Edina's third line is the 64K question. Lee has been centering that line as well to add stability.
BSM: Play against Minnetonka was not their best after only managing 11 SOG through two periods, but they prevailed and will bring a number of experienced players to the Excel, but BSM will be first timers to the tourney including goalie sophmore Meyers. Meyers will have to deliver in a very tough environment.
Hill Murray: Has two very solid lines with good combination of size and speed, Defense has been suspect at times and Phillipi has not had the year of last despite winning his award. Roseau will get numerous quality shots and scoring chances in Semi's. The consistency of his play will determine their success.
Woodbury: Destroyed favored Rosemount in section Final. Returning with Eddy and tourney experience, they are the top unseeded team and should provide for the best game opening day. Pick to upset BSM in OT.
Cloquet: Brown has the hot hand with Jokinen taking knocks of late, but the team have posted the biggest upsets with back to back wins over DE and Anoka. How much is left in the tank after these two huge wins is unknown. Early match-up with Edina in late January was a one-sided loss 5-1. Edina is also determined to avoid the Mariucci abyss scheduled friday morn.
Blaine: Impressive win over Centennial with balanced scoring led by Seniors Shaber, Johnson and Stepan. Bjustad is an upcoming HS star. State Tourney experience on this team should provide Roseau with a decent work-out Thursday and if the sun, moon and stars align.......
Lakeville South: Yak will need to stand on every extremity and head in order for Lakeville to register an historic upset over HM.

Lakeville South - 0 goals against in playoffs so far
Edina - Overtime win over Burnsville. Gives them momentum
Woodbury - 8-2 section final win over a lake team
Hill-Murray - Beat rival White Bear to be here. Gives them momentum
Blaine - Beat favored Centennial 6-1 in section championship
Benilde-St. Margaret's - Overtime comback against tonka, ot win over ep.
Cloquet - Pulled of miracle upset to get here over de. showed they can play "o" and "d" (6 gf, 2 ga)
Roseau - ................ (27-0) says enough

They won there section. Thats saying plenty. Edina is a really tough draw and I,d have to pick them. But kudos to Cloquet!komada77 wrote:that's not saying a lot to be totally honest with youMNRinkRat wrote:Cloquet is playing the hottest of their season so far.
Do I have to shadow Pavelich again coach?

Which town are you actually from? Or did both kick you out?
Woodbury is coming in hot, i think will be the upset game over BSM.
Cloquet is coming in hot, at least David Brown is, but Edina will be to much to handle.
Blaine is coming off a big Section final game, maybe the momentum will carry.
But, the hottest team has to be Roseau, Undefeated says it all.
In Class A, Duluth Marshall, 10 game streak and big over time win in section final, should bring some more momentum.

Cloquet makes no sense. They won 3-0, 6-5, 3-2. I don't think you can use two different games, but if you do, use the ER game and say 0 ga.
Roseau is 28-0.
