Peewe 'A' East Regional - All Tournament Players

Post by fromthecrease »

Looking at the regional draws over the last weekend, I decided to take in the East Regional in St Louis Park. I was able to take in a number of games and came away impressed with many players, but being from the crease, not many goaltenders. Many good games and some very exciting and entertaining, like the Woodbury, Wayzata game, so many lead changes and so many good plays, lots of offense, but alas not great goaltending :( .

So here is my list of players that I deem "all-tournament", all comments and opinions are welcome. St. Louis park did a very nice job in running the tournament and the officiating was good, but not great (too many calls where I noticed the official). None the less there was some good hockey and some good players on display as I settled in to enjoy.

Peewee ‘A’ East Region All Tournament Team
(Not In Order)

Forwards:
Eagan #19 Schultz
Eagan #15 Willox*
Hopkins #7 Thie
Maple Grove #4 Augustine
North St Paul #7 LaValle
Roseville #7 Becker
Wayzata #12 Besse* (Best player in the tournament)
Woodbury #9 Guentzel*
Woodbury #12 Greeley

Defense:
Eagan #3 Schmidt
Maple Grove #9 Thomsen
North St Paul #13 O’Brien
Wayzata #3 Hahn*
White Bear Lake #17 Wahlin
Woodbury #10 Hart*

Goalie: Very tough to tell, probably the weakest position in the regional
Eagan #1 Markland*
Hopkins #1 Quale

*My First Line, I would take those up against anybody!

Honorable Mention
Maple Grove #11 Marshall
Maple Grove #16 Randall
North St Paul #9 Oliver
Roseville #9 Colvard
Roseville #12 Bulmer
Roseville #2 Campbell
Wayzata #4 Ransom
Wayzata #9 Tabery
Wayzata #11 Olson
Wayzata #13 Sorensen
Woodbury #18 Winter
Woodbury #20 Tuneberg

Great post.....

However, names should not be listed. Just use #'s per forum rules.

Not sure how to do this copy or "quote thing", but in reply I must say:

What? And Why? Why offer yet another subjective opinion, including the reference/listing of player names (hopefully not) or numbers for people lurking on this board to poke at or take issue with? Everyone has their own opinion and are entitled to it, but this thread is just another means of approaching the "Best Of..." or "Look at My Kid..." angle (even if only for a weekend's worth of play) which for the most part do nothing but spin out of control (so far so good on this one, however). I could provide all sorts of player #'s from other regionals since I saw and enjoyed many games, but why? And for what reason?

Best of Regional Tournament? Best of Season? Best of... Best of.. Best of? It's all history now with the exception of the "TEAMS" (Peewee A in this thread) that have advanced to the state tournament.

A line from the 94' fire..................hmmm not an "All-Star" line?

Than what is a line from a hand picked, hand selected team that recruits players from all over the states of Wisconsin and Minnesota? Sounds like a select team to me, isn't that why you are playing "Tier 1"? So you can travel to Las Vegas and play the Junior Betty Crocker "AAA" team, smoke them 14-1 a couple of times and then come home, when if you stayed with your local team you could go up against players like these on a regular basis and not have to travel 1,000's of miles to do so.

And yeah I would take that group up against any line combination, even one that has been playing against Bantams all year, instead of their intended age group, most likely they got far better coaching this year than your 94' boys.

Click-
The 94 Fire did not have a full line of Peewee age kids. I think they had 3 skaters and 1 goalie.

Crease-
You might want to check into what you say before ripping the coaching on the 94 Fire. I know you will not find a Head Coach that puts more time in or cares more about his players than the one that the Fire kids had the privilege of playing for.

Not a rip on the 94' Fire coaches, it's a compliment to the coaches of the players noted.

The 94 Fire coach is a great man and a true Class act
It is unfortunate that fromthecrease has to attack away
at all of the great things this man has done for so many
nice young hockey prospects. Read your posts fromthecrease
you are not a nice man and you are very angry toward the
Fire hockey club. The Fire hockey club is sanctioned out of
Wisconsin WAHA. Its home rink is in Somerset which sits 8
miles across the Stillwater Mn bridge it is also what they call
a border city. It is unfortunate that you feel that WAHA is one
up on you. By the posts you have submitted it is clear you are
not at all up to speed with this fast paced topic so it would be a
wise move to stay away from the bashing of the fine young BOYS
who give it their all when on the ice playing the great game of Hockey.
If you don't like it that is fine but don't bash it I do not bash association
hockey I know association hockey is great for allot of kids and does offer
a great chance to many hockey prospects to work on what it takes to get
better at the great game of hockey. The Fire does this as well so you have
to ask yourself is that good for the growth of hockey or not ??????????????
I will answer for you since the Red light apparently fried your brain cells
from spending to much time inthecrease it is good for the game yes it is.

I started this post to discuss the players that played in the East Regional peewee 'A' tournamentand any other players and teams that were involved in this particular tournament that is run by Minnesota Hockey for Minnesota hockey players and coaches.

And what happens, someone comes on to promote and talk about the Fire again. The Fire is a topic that has been talked about ad nauseum and something that is irrelevant to this thread.

5thgraders-
I am happy for ya, the three dad coaches that run the 94' Fire are meeting and as it seems exceeding your expectations, great as I have stated in previous posts, thats a good thing. I did not attack the 94' Fire coach, in case you haven't noticed this thread is promoting the teams involved in the East Regional and there are some pretty damn good coaches and that is the direction. But again you step into a thread that you have no ability to add to at all, you just pop in and side track into a topic you feel you are knowledgeable about.
If you wish to start another thread about the Fire so all can debate the great and wonderous things that they accomplish above and beyond everybody else then do it and have your forum, but please stop stepping into topics of conversation and interjecting the Fire into your every waking breathing thought process.

QUOTE fromthecrease " My first line , I would take them up against
ANYBODY " It is you who is at fault with the wording that opened this up for debate and someone not me knew how to hit your angry hot button.

Anybody includes the Fire Kids that are Pee Wee eligible so it really
shows that you have no idea of what you opened up for discussion.
This is elementary school and as I can see you have not yet made
it to the 5th grade. So I will waste no more time with your child like
elocution you will need the Websters New World Dictionary to figure
out what I already Know. I will help you out since you seem to be in need of it. Elocution the art of public speaking.

Gross from Maple Grove? From what I heard he was by far the best player on Maple Grove. Besse is a great player, needs to learn to use his speed to the outside before next season. If he continues to try and dangle, he will not be as successful at the next level.

from the crease,

How can you not include Wayzata #6? are you afraid of ponytails? She is amazing and can skate against any PeeWee A. She can give a good check too.

I think #5 from Hopkins Pee wee A is something really special. He has speed and a hard shot, but he needs to hit the net a little bit more and he'll be set off to the right direction.
