Lets Hear It For the Salty Losers

Post by MNHockey08 »

Well I figure Ill give all those teams one last chance to tell their story of how they beat a team who is now at the big dance. One last time for the losers to rant about their wins of beating a state participant team so they can do a little bragging (if you can call it that).

For example: Champlin Park beat Blaine twice during the season, so im sure they are ticked because they feel like they could be there.
Or in a more upset example: Tartan over Hill Murry

I feel worst for Kennedy and Wayzata. Not that they aren't in state, but that they have so little to show for the season. Both are far better than their record indicates.

As for tough-luck teams that could have done damage in St. Paul, Minnetonka tops my list. They had a great season. Sometimes you lose at the wrong time.

Schwan Gold champs have not gone on to win the HS title.

Nuet is correct - not the last time
Tartan's landslide happened after that game - goal accomplished, I guess.
Anytime an average team can beat a AAA, select, all star recruit team, the bragging rights will hang on for years to come.
Sorry PPG

Same goes for Becker/Big Lake/Milaca (ranked #147, the worst AA team in the PS2 rankings)

Becker/Big Lake/Milaca beat Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake 5-4
Monticello beat Robbinsdale Cooper 7-3
Cooper beat Henry Sibley 2-1
Sibley beat Tartan 3-2
Tartan beat Hill-Murray 3-2
Hill-Murray beat St. Thomas 4-2 and 4-3
St. Thomas beat Benilde 5-3

and.....

Benilde beat Edina 2-1.

Go (whatever Becker's macot is)'s!!!!!!

More to come this week for sure.

Sorry for what? For your poor season? Not winning the conference? The low seed in sections? The butt whooping in the 1st round of sections? Nice to know that you look up to Hill so much that beating them early in the season was the goal for the year. I guess the Tartan fans can watch the tournament & see Hill play & say, "remember when we beat those guys a couple of months ago....that was cool." Says a lot about a program when thier goal can be achieved in the first part of the season when most wanna accomplish their goals at the end. I guess both programs were successful...Tartan beat a powerhouse & Hill is back at state.

If he dropped the recruit part, he'd be very close.

How about:

Blake beat SPA 6-4
SPA beat Moose Lake/Willow River 2-0
Moose Lake beat Becker 4-2
Becker/Big Lake/Milaca beat Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake 5-4
Monticello beat Robbinsdale Cooper 7-3
Cooper beat Henry Sibley 2-1
Sibley beat Tartan 3-2
St. Thomas beat Tartan 7-0

So Blake should beat STA in the semi's right...

Schwan Gold champs have not gone on to win the HS title.
The Roseau Christmas Tourney has had more Championship winners go on and win state than the Schwan's Cup.

If anyone should be kicking themselves right now it's Tonka. They've beat 5 of the 8 teams in the state tournament including all the top 4 seeds.

I think he is referring to a scrimmage where Minnetonka beat Roseau, which doesn't mean jack ***t.

I would assume you already have an excuse list drafted when you become a State Tourney LOSER again. The question is not IF you make it to State duh - it's IF you can get to the semis and be considered a TRUE powerhouse.

I do wish Furne and Westie luck however - great kids, great parents. I will be rooting for them to win it all, and thrilled for them if they do. If they had kept their allegiances to Tartan we no doubt could have had that shot at State.

Sounds to me like you have the excuse thing down to a science! And please stay off our bandwagon.

It means Minnetonka beat Roseau in a scrimmage, nothing more, nothing less. Has no bearing on which team is better, or worse.
