Leddy to NTDP?

Post by breakout »

I heard from a reputable source that Nick Leddy was being considered by USA Hockey for NTDP.

In my opinion, the Junior D should stay with his buddies and enjoy the rest of his high hockey school experience.

Your thoughts?

Its common knowledge that coach Lucia prefers his recruits to play at a higher lever as seniors, tough call for Nick

They usually ask about 50 kids to come tryout in April.

Leddy would have been for the U18 team. Most of the kids you are thinking of would be up for spots on next year's U17 team. There will be nine MN kids going for an U17 spot in the upcoming tryouts.

Didn't sound like a tryout situation

There is no other program like the National Development squad...EP has no shot at State next year so he should go to Michigan and play against better competition.

Isn't it unusual for NDT to take a player for only one year?

Yes, but sometimes a player will leave the program after their first year which opens up a spot for the following year's U-18 team.

Example - Mike Hoeffel joining the U18 team for his senior year

I believe there draft is set uo by your birth year and certain rounds you can only draft palyers from that year. I don't believe it's like the nhl draft where all players from a couple of years can be chosen. Not totally sure and I'm sure somebody can clarify.
