private schools should have own section
Why doesn't the MSHSL have the private schools, both A and AA compete in one section? it would give more kids across the state more opportunites to play in a tournament. Also, great article in the STRIB about St. Thomas electing to play down.

Because it makes more sense to have the Sections set up regionally. They are trying to have a tournament field with representatives from different parts of the state.Partagas wrote:Why doesn't the MSHSL have the private schools, both A and AA compete in one section?
Like it or not, it will remain this way.
Be kind. Rewind.

Why do people hate on private schools so much? Believe it or not this is just a high school sport and in the big picture it doesn't make much of a difference. It is there so that kids can have a good time and play hockey. Why should the kids whose parents and them go out of their way to go to a private school and try to get the best education possible, be blindly hated or forced to participate differently that other schools. How is it a bad thing that teenagers are also trying to get a good education and go to college and want to play hockey too? Let it be. If people are trying to make the argument that they should be treated differently because they can recruit, well public school are just as guilty. They great thing about hockey in this state is the big field or school that all can play each other. Do you really want to turn every private school into a shattuck? The quality of high school hockey in MN would seriously take a hit, the great player who want to play at the next level are going to want the best preparation for the next level. Part of the fun thing about hockey here during the season and at state is the private vs public battle, it creates some very good hockey and fun games to watch. Why would u want to get rid of it?

Good question! These battles can be just as intriguing as the North vs. South matchups. And if you got rid of them many people here would be left with nothing else to complain about!DmnHawk5 wrote:Part of the fun thing about hockey here during the season and at state is the private vs public battle, it creates some very good hockey and fun games to watch. I don't think the hate part started until they became a real force year in and out, and it was being questioned whether it was a means being used to create super teams.
I really could care less, because in the end anything can happen in any game.
Look at it this way even if it (is) was being used to create super teams, it gives great competition to the big super schools so it makes for good hockey games.
