East, Denfeld, Central, Harbor City, Lakeview Christian Academy, and other nearby schools like Proctor. And Marshall has roughly 300 students. thats about 150 boys and only about 32 of them play hockey, some of them being complete . just because they are good now doesnt mean they will be forever.
While I agree that they shouldn't opt up now, it wouldn't be a bad move down the raod for the program in the future.
And BTW - Harbor City has no hockey team and neither does LCA. When I was going to school in the area, these two schools didn't even exist and I have no idea what their enrollment or their actual purpose is.
But to add to your own argument, you're correct. Two of Duluth Marshall's closest rivals in single A in the area are Proctor and Hermantown and neither of them are opting up to AA, even though Hermantown is a defending State Champ and has been regarded as a seasonal perenial power in the area, whereas Proctor has had a declining few years in their program.
Duluth Denfeld was last AA in 1996, whereafter they went single A. Duluth East could easily do the same, but they have better numbers in their program consistently. If Marshall could sustain their program, it would be worth the look into.
