LEE did not have a good game? Are you on drugs? that should have been 6-0 at one point. He was beyond unreal, what a player. gave roseau a shot to get that 3-1 and the 3-2 almost goal..Good lord I thought Lee was easily the number one star of that game. Were you watching the multiple breakaways, and 2 on 1 free goals that he stopped?? Hill was dominating that game in waves and he gave Roseau a chance to hang around which they almost did at that 3-2 almost goal.. Philippie was just stunning as well... HArd to stop 7 extra powerplays as the refs kept trying to give roseau a shot in this one but they could not get it done...Sparlimb wrote:Nanne is traditionally been very tough when announcing Hill-Murray games. But he told it like it was tonight. Can you disagree Hills defense played their best game of the year and the the forwards for the first time in recorded history back checked well? Who played well for Roseau that he should have been talking about. Lee didn't have a big game, Philippi out played him. Ness had some great moves, but he couldn't do it himself and Hill sucessfully pounded the snot out of the Rams. So don't get pissy at Nanne for calling a spade a spade.pacman wrote:Can we please get some unbiased announcing, honestly, i respect Lou Nanne for his career, But god damn, quit with the biased homerism to the southern teams, Hockey is just as good, if not better up north than it is down south.
those goalies were both spectacular...

Every great team has to lose eventually. Remember the two empty netters in this one too.Hillhockey000 wrote:If the game was more like the first semifinal, you maybe could make a case in saying Roseau is still the better team but it was 6-2 for crying out loud. Better teams don't lose 6-2 to inferior teams.
Way to go Hill!!! Good luck against Edina!
As regard to Lee, he played unreal in this game. I agree this could have ended up 6 or 7 nothing at one point.

not true in the elite league this summer he was the number one or number 2 Defenseman on the best elite team and easily hung in there. sure there are some great forwards across hockey that will make a defenseman look bad at times but he is elite at least against the best forwards in Minnesota. you guys really dont watch much do you?DmanDad1980 wrote:None of the HM boys will be getting offers this year, just not that good, maybe a couple years of Juniors... Don't get mad now, they played well as a team last night, and I would still take Roseau in a best of series, HM was the better team last night...norcon wrote:Do you expect Sova to get an offer? He has size, but he's slow and he spends most of the game mugging guys after the whistle and chopping anything within twenty feet of him. You'd think he's invisible with the crap he gets away with!EV2003 wrote: From what I have heard, none of the Hill (Flip, Cecka, Furne, Sova, Dolan) boys have received offers. Just what I've heard tho, no confirmation.
Quite frankly Sova should look at the UFC for his career after high school, too slow, plodder, kids at next level would eat him alive...

at least 5 times he made near miracle saves that kept the game at 3-0 and roseau still in it. he had no help in the 2nd period as Hill have breakaways shorthanded and multiple 2 on 1's. he played stunning goaltending.who_b_dat wrote:hockeyhockeyhockey wrote:Good lord I thought Lee was easily the number one star of that game.
The losing goal keeper getting the 1 star of the game? You, sir, are the one who isn't thinking straight. Quit trying to take away the credit Hill deserves for this win. I hear they have good drink specials at the Legion Hall next to the North rink. You might find someone in there who will comiserate with you.hockeyhockeyhockey wrote:at least 5 times he made near miracle saves that kept the game at 3-0 and roseau still in it. he had no help in the 2nd period as Hill have breakaways shorthanded and multiple 2 on 1's. he played stunning goaltending.who_b_dat wrote:hockeyhockeyhockey wrote:Good lord I thought Lee was easily the number one star of that game.

I believe you are trying to send a Hill fan to the Legion. We are commiserating enough here all by ourselves. Agreed about #1 star, Hill'swho_b_dat wrote:The losing goal keeper getting the 1 star of the game? You, sir, are the one who isn't thinking straight. are you crazy Im a huge hill fan...Lee was unreal or that dominating Hill team would have been up 6-0 in the second period? he is the only player Roseau had keeping them in the game and was stunning...I kept thinking how is this not 5-0 or 6-0...ACTUALFORMERPLAYER wrote:I believe you are trying to send a Hill fan to the Legion. He's a goon too. The only reason he's playing D1 is because of his size. Take that away and he's playing intramurals somewhere.DubCHAGuy wrote:Joe Finley?Do you expect Sova to get an offer? For those old enough to remember the skilled teams that Roseau brought to the tourney in the 70's this looked very familiar. A proud Hockey team that is very skilled but with an unwillingness to adapt their game plan. Just like 30 years ago they seemed determined to trade chances with Hill. Its a wonderful style too watch but it caught up to them last night. As for who is better? One game really determines very little other than the winner. Did STA improve by 10 goals since they lost to Marshall..I don't think so. Its just too bad we can't see match ups like this more often. How great would a best of 5 be? I know it can't happen but I'd certainly watch them all if it did.

Well said. Nothing against HM last night, because they had a game plan and executed it very well. But I'd still take both the Patriots over the Giants and Roseau over HM in a best of 5.keepyourheadup wrote: Did STA improve by 10 goals since they lost to Marshall..I don't think so. That said, congrats to HM, they were the better team last night. It would have been interesting had Roseau gotten it to 3-2 in the 3rd. Nevertheless, it didn't happen, Roseau was on an emotional high Thursday night, but overall I thought they were flat last night. Therefore HM deserves to be in the finals.

you forgot to congratulate the referees who allowed this to happen. they shoulda had you ref. the outcome would have been different.BIAFP wrote:Hill had a great clutch and grab gameplan last night and it worked very well. The only clutching and grabbing I saw was Nelson boody slamming Westerhaus. What I saw Hill do was step in and take away space. Blaine thought there was a 5 yard cushion on the Rams.Junior Samples wrote:you forgot to congratulate the referees who allowed this to happen. they shoulda had you ref. the outcome would have been different.BIAFP wrote:Hill had a great clutch and grab gameplan last night and it worked very well. Re: The Cake Eater Cup!
That is the best point, alot of us forget that some of the kids we hate on the other teams the most might end up on the college team we love the most. In the end it is only a game and isnt life and death that it gets made out to be.hockeyfanatic99 wrote:I can hear it already...daddy's money, daddy's money! Edina _ucks...etc. Or, it's the Cake Eater Cup, all part of our hockey in this State of Hockey! But we must not forget .. it is our hockey! Not Wisconsin's, Michigan's or heaven forbid anyone on the east coast. Remember, today a Ram tomorrow a Gopher or today a Pioneer tomorrow a Bulldog or Maverick, you get the message. Enjoy, because these moments will all too soon be memories. Please make some new one's I am getting a little tired of watching Spehar's - just joking!
Re: biafprison
Everytime Ness was on the ice there was clutching, grabbing, hooking, and slashing. My favorite was the in the second I noticed only 4 rams breaking out. Looked back and saw a hill player on top of ness, with ness in a head lock, and the ref standing there watching it. That was nice.Pucknutz69 wrote:The only clutching and grabbing I saw was Nelson boody slamming Westerhaus. What I saw Hill do was step in and take away space. I agree, this is a little disappointing. Roseau has a great team, possibly still the best team in the state but they lost yesterday. Hill played goonish at times and the officials let them play for the most part but it is not the fault of the officials that the Rams lost.MN Hockey wrote:Appears as if the Ram faithful find a need to blame the referees. I listened to Coach Oliver on the pre game for the 3rd place game and he was quick to point out the shortcomings of the officiating.
He got out coached and the Rams got out played. It was a 6 - 2 drubbing at the hands of HM.
