AA - All Tournament Team

Post by mnhshockey36 »

Most of the team was very disserving of the honor, but what about any individual from the consolation side of the tourney? I thought that Ness and the other Roseau player didn’t deserve it; I’m not saying that they aren’t good players. Ness is easily the best in the state (Mr. Hockey) but if he played that well his team wouldn’t have lost 2 games. Woodbury won the consolation side of the bracket and was led by Ben Goff with 8 points (5 goals and 3 assists), including a hat trick in the consolation finals but he still didn’t get chosen to the all tournament team. If I remember last year right there were Edina players who were chosen. Any thoughts?

Landman had six points in the quarters (seven total), so it's kinda hard to omit him. Ness had four in the quarters plus an assist in the semis. Neither had a point in the third place game. Ness's +/- for the last two games was -4. I don't think he should've been included, but whatever. I would've taken Ness and Cashetta out and replaced them with Anders Lee and Dolan of Hill. Just my opinion.

The list was (pardon the misspelling):

Aaron Ness
Tylor Landman
Matt Berglund
Chris Stodent
Zach Buddish
Joe Gleason
Marshall Everson
Derek Cashetta
Dan Solva
Dan Checka
Ryan Furne
Joe Phillippi

Another thing is it's difficult including players in the loser bracket. Hence why everyone in the upper half was included.

After seeing the stats page, I'd have to say Dolan's contribution on defense and either Goff (8 pts, leading scorer in state) or Wiggen's 91% saves on about 112 shots. I'd say Dolan before the others cause his defense was instrumental to propelling his team further. Anders Lee had only a couple points I think. Cashetta had a fine 92%, but I think it's misleading given a couple soft goals.

Agreed on Dolan. Along with Sova, he didn't completely shut down all three teams he faced.
