Tournament MVP

Post by H-M 4 Life »

Not to be biased but Joe Phillippi and Ryan Furne. I think both of them played excellent and that one provided offense and another provided defense.

Joe Phillippi would have to be at the top of my list. Kid shined.

No doubt. I'd say they were definitely Co-MVPs. Flip played showed outstanding confidence and had great postioning in all three games. Furne on the other hand was an absolute force out there. He was skating, shooting rockets, and checking EVERYTHING that moved. Although the entire team did the same exact thing, it was a ton of fun to watch Furne dominate like he did.

I'll give Flip credit where it's due, he did make some tough saves. And I was always saying how he was overrated. He sure proved me wrong. I hope he plans on playing baseball this spring and Legion ball for North St. Paul this summer.

You meant to give Furne credit for providing plenty of both.

There were quite a few Zepeda critics this year but the guy back checked his butt off and laid out his body to block shots at the X.

How bout that Kelly kid playing some hard corp D on Edina's top line? He took a slapper in the boot but I don't think he even missed a shift!

Alot of accolades to go around but we all know the answer to this question ...

Yes... and Zepeda looked like he was still playing hurt... I was impressed by his maturity and intelligence.

Phillipi was the MVP without a doubt. He stood on his head two straight nights after getting a bye in the first game. Congratulations!

true, but he didn't really have a bye the first night. his team didn't play all that well and Lakeville had a fair number of opportunities to comeback, which Phillipi stole from them. Best player in the tourney by far

The rules changed, it's not where you live anymore, it's where you go to school. All the Hill kids will try out for NSP.

Furne scored the first goal in each game as I recall, that was the key for HM to play the style they did, they actually scored the first 3 goals in each game... Furne was the MVP

Joe Flip and Ryan Furne. They carried this team. They were both on a mission, and they did great. Way to go Flip, proving all your haters wrong.

Yes good job of correcting me. Furne also did a good job on defense as did the whole team.

its got to be phillippi, I have not been a fan of his abilities in the past but he showed me up and then some this tourney. Hill couldn't have done it without him. If he continues to play like he did at the tourney, I would predict great things

Hill Murray tender. I wouldn't have picked him in a million years after watching him late in the season, but he was the most impressive player at the tourney. He showed great skill, true patience and the class you'd want to see of a Herb Brooks Award winner. Great job by that kid.

He looks like he is hurt. He skates half speed and is still caught up with everyone.

AA MVP was Joe Phillippi but you can give Ryan Furne the second place prize.

A MVP was Ryan Walters but you can give Ben Hanowski the second place prize.

That's not true I know of 2 or 3 CDH players planning to play for Woodbury this year.

Are you serious or kidding? I actually thought he played well and made some very smart plays.

For Legion, you can play for your town or a town that your school is located in.

Phillippi is an all-american pinch runner, but not that great otherwise.

I personally thought the goalie from BSM was the best player on the ice in the tournament. Ness was amazing against Blaine. Furne played great against Roseau and Edina. And of course "flip" was a sponge.

I give the MVP to the Edina fans...what a show of support, 4 full sections of students, Edina mine as well be HOCKEYtown of the HOCKEYSTATE, and my kids goes to Hill, but I know why Edina is a love/hate hockey program.
