Ness... had a great dive at the end of one period at semis... what else did he do?

The sheep looked as scared as BIAFP is of Ankles Pierre, Jr.

Zach Palmquist is just as talented as these two. He just gets over looked by being on a bad team.

His team lost 6 games all year, all but 1 of them to state tournament teams. He's very good but no where near these two.

I've only seen Pryor once, against the Gophers, so I have to go with Ness, that kid is sick. I'd like to see him put some weight on though.

Score more points then any defensemen on Edina's team and scored more points then all of Hill-Murray's defensemen combined. That's not so bad. Of course you have to take into account the "dive" when Kohl, like a chickensh&t, crosschecked him, from behind, after the buzzer. Now that is classy.

Has anyone other than myself seen both of these kids play recently? I saw Pryor a couple months ago against Notre Dame and thought he was the best defenseman on the ice regardless of team. That being said, Ness is a phenomenal player, but I'm gonna say Pryor is better.

I saw Pryor early in the year against the gophers. He didn't do very well, but even in a bad game it looked like he may be a little better all around d-man then Ness, but looking at just their skills i'd have to take Ness.

I see Ness as more of a Jordan Leopold at the U, doing a lot of scoring and hopefully becoming a decent defender. Pryor more of a Paul Martin, a stay at home guy who can provide offense if he needs to. So take your pick I guess.

I definitely agree with the Leopold/Martin comparison. IMO, Ness is the better offensive player, but I thought Pryor's superiority in the defensive zone outweighed Ness's in the offensive. Pryor particularly impressed me on the penalty kill, and his team did hold a D1 team to 1 goal in regulation.

Also had a worse plus/minus than anyone I can think of and still make the all tournament team.

It is very difficult for anyone these days to make the jump straight from high school to the WCHA, but based on his skill level I think the odds are in favor of Aaron Ness making an immediate contribution. It won't be easy however as the Gophers will only lose one defenseman (Peltier) from their current roster. And if their web site is still accurate they had also signed two other incoming D and another who could play either D or forward:

I'm sure they will put Ness on an aggressive strength/conditioning program this summer as his relatively small stature (for a D especially) could be an issue in the corner battles. But he should be able to use all of this offensive skills on the big ice surface at Mariucci. Creating offense from the defensive position is something the Gophers have really lacked this year and Ness should be able to help fill that void. As a season ticket holder I am really looking forward to seeing him play.

I'm sure he won't be a star his freshmen year, but what stud defensemen has been? The WCHA is a big jump in competition for a high school junior to make. He will do fine next year and he will continue to get better. The kid has a ton of talent and the Gophers will be very lucky to have him. That is what this year is missing, a top end defensemen who can move the puck and provide scoring help. He will do just fine with the Gophers.[/img]
