Right now, I'd bet he stays. His brother stayed throughout high school at Hopkins, unless this is completely a hockey decision I think he will probably stay.

If I were him I would stay as long as Fons stays.

Last year the big rumor was Fink was going to BSM and then Holy Angels so I doubt if there is anything behind this Boyd rumor.

Boyd's an 8th grader. If you transfer before your freshman year, you don't have to sit our a year of varsity.

Not 100% sure but if you played Varsity hockey for the school you may still be subject to that transfer rule??

I will check on it! :?

Nope.... nothing says he can't transfer without penalty, as long as he's enrolling as a 9th grader he's good to go!
To bad for Hopkins good deal for wherever he goes...good luck! :D

He's not transfering. He's enrolling in the high school of his choice like any other kid does.

I'd really hate to see this happen. Especially after Hopkins had such a good season. He and Fons are a good nucleus to build around for the next few years.

It would be healthy to see some programs like Hopkins that have generally been bottom feeders over the years rise up and challenge the usual suspects for a period of time. That's not going to happen if their best players end up elsewhere.

Exactly. Private schools exist and they require students. Some go for the religion, some for college prep courses they feel they might be lacking at the local public institution (although many twin city publics are top-of-the-line relatively speaking) some for hockey, some for hoops (see Chicago) some to avoid violence in the hallways (see Milwaukee Public Schools). An 8th grader should never be cited for "transferring" or "leaving home". As an 8th grader, he/she has no home yet. If every 8th grader was subject to the transfer rule, there could be no freshmen sports at any private high school. I know many would like that, (see BIAFP) but remember, 98% of the student body at Hill or HA or CDH or BSM do not play hockey.

That's kinda where I was coming from. Some private students were public at one time (cause not all private parents can afford the the cost from K-12).

Hilltopper99 best thing i have ever heard in my whole life!
Now the people that all talk bad about Private schools maybe can understand where the private school kids are coming from when they choose to go there and not a public school. Most of the time it is not for sports at all. It is all about what Hilltopper99 wrote.

Alright he wants to go to BSM for one reason only and that is to go to state Hopkins has a really good team but in the lake conference the chances are small that they will go to the state tourney.

Are you kidding the "Classic" Lake Conference is the toughest competition or do you think you have worse chances of making it in a sucky conference????????????????? I don't know it's kinda obvious.

There in the same section, so they could play each other for a state birth. BSM plays in such a terrible conference, it's like playing 16 JV games, how can that be fun and challenging? Plus I think Hopkins will be better.

Wow, two bad homonyms in one sentence. I cleaned it up for you.
